On tap @ the Holyrood 9A. Pours opaque black with some head. The nose has pine and flowers. The taste is of pine and grapefruit, then some chocolate and then the zing comes back at the end. The palate is medium throughout with a clean finish. Overall, a good effort.

Bottle from ’Jacks’ Westholme Stores, Goring-on-Thames, Oxon 19.04.12 consumed Fri 20.04.12 Dark brown, like chestnut maybe, the head swiftly departed but the rim remnants look, beige to me. Little bit dark sugary on the nose, with a little yeast and also a dab of bread maybe? Soft in mouth, really soft, the alcohol is noticeable but at 8.1% they’ve done a good job of keeping this in check. The hops start to come through after a while, though at this is smooth, soft, a little creamy and with a light roastiness. A little bit of charcoal, some fruitiness, bit of toffee banana fruity sweets. Nice but possibly a little too sweet, though the hops do come through with a vengeance afterwards. A6 A4 T7 P4 Ov13 3.4

Bottled. A dark red-brown beer with a lazing tan head. The aroma has notes of over ripe fruits, roasted malt, and alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of alcohol, roasted malt, over ripe fruits, and caramel, leading to a dry, roasted, and alcoholic finish.

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of madmitch76. Bottle #52/876. pours a dark orangey brown with a rough beige head. Thick syrupy aroma, nuts, overripe fruit and alcohol. Rich body, overripe fruit, plummy, brown sugar, toffeeish, salty and minerally with quite some booze in the finish. Very rustic and very British. 190412

On tap @ the Holyrood 9A. Pours red/ruby/brown with a decent head. The nose is hoppy but very light. The taste has caramel and crushed up biscuits, more like a bitter really. It grows a little as you go down the beer. It’s medium bodied and full in texture with a very dry finish. Overall, a bit weird!
