Clear brown beer, a few bubbles for a head. Smooth low carbonation palate. Sweet malt with a little caramel, lots of bubblegum and a few spices. Trace of banana. Finishes smooth and semi dry. Tastes more like a Belgian Strong but ultimately who cares? What matters is that it’s a seductive and tasty beer - enjoyed it, although some carbonation would certainly not gone amiss.

On tap at the Rake. Clear amber beer, tidy white head. Light semi dry palate. Fresh. Moderate carbonation. Fair bit of pale malt with a trace of honey. Mild orangey hops. Not bad but probably suffered from my previous beer being the Brew Wharf hop monster (Nic and Nates IPA).

Draught at Cask Pub & Kitchen on 9th March 2012. hazy copper with off-white, part-lacing foam. Rich and intense smoky and citric aromas. Liquid packed with woodsmoke, savoury notes and citrus fruit. Rich and strong grapefruit and pipesmoke in the aftertaste. A zingy mouthfeel. Exquisite - but an acquired taste. You’ll acquire it!

Bottle picked up from Westholme Stores ’Jacks’, Goring on Thames, Oxon Feb 2012 consumed 17.02.12 Dark brown with small tan head. Thick and oily and very in yer’ face with oodles of coffee and vanilla, as the description suggests this is pretty intense, though the alcohol doesn’t scream out at you too much. Fine and whilst I enjoyed this it wasn’t totally my thing. A6 A5 T7 P4 Ov13 3.5
