Location: 22 oz bottle from Norm's, 1/12/10
Aroma: Nose of caramel, booze, sugar, raisin, a bit of chocolate, maybe a little grapefruit
Appearance: Dark brown color with a slight red hue, bubbly tan head, streaky lace
Flavor: A big flavor of booze, bitter hops, lots of lingering dark fruity sweetness, and a bitter finish
Palate: An interesting mouthfeel, quite a lot of body, and a nice sweet-dry feel with lingering dryness
Overall Impression: This is a pretty interesting beer, they really did make this one darn complex. There's a lot of stuff going on with this one. A nice beer for sure. I didn't get the booze in the taste that I got in the nose. I'd say its perhaps a bit too sweet. Not too much more to add other then that, but I like it.

pours dark brown, beige head aroma, chocolate malts, some roast, dark fruits, and light hop bitterness. flavor, found this one to be quite balanced, a mix between thick chocolate malt with firm roast leaning on a mild coffee offering / oat, boozy palate and the hops that blend nicely adding a nice touch to the finish.

pours amber, off-white head aroma is malty, caramel sweetness, hops is present mixed with some spices. flavor, caramel malts, light fruit bitterness, good malt balance but keeps a tad of the hops spices quickly followed by light fruit tartness of the pomegranate. Finish had the same mouthfeel of pomegranate as the other He’Brew beer, just a little more of everything but not my fruit of choice. Ever after 3 years, the tartness was detectable, did not mellow out and the malt finish lingers a little behind.

13 different malts and 13 different hops? Impressive right off that bat. Thick opaque black color with a light beige head. Ruggedly thick darkfruit and malty sugar aroma just hint at what lies underneath. For 13% this is quite drinkable and smooth actually, not far from Wee Heavy territory, more drinkable than a typical Barleywine. Almost soft and creamy on the palate, there is some depth still. Lots of toffee notes. The hops are really outshined, they don’t really add too much other than a pleasant balance. Really impressive this year for it’s subtlety, and relative drinkabiltity. The sweetness starts clinging to your mouth after a few sips, and you know you are drinking something serious, but it still remains quaffable.
