Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Ruby/black, small but persistant head. Minty asphalt and grapefruit assaults my nostrils with pear, coffee and licorice following shortly thereafter. Sweet and massively full bodied with compact, black hole-style mouthfeel. Lots and lots of hops backed by licorice and truckloads of heavily roasty malt. Peppery warming alcohol dominates ths finish. Clean and massive, potent and hugely flavourful, but still not with much depth.

(Draught at Oliver Twist, Stockholm) Dark brown colour, almost black, with creamy beige head. Malty, roasted nose with dried fruit, coffee, chocolate and raisins. Possibly a touch of smoke. Roasted, malty taste with notes of dark and/or dried fruit, coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, prunes and a hint of smoke or ashes. Vinous and powerful with a generous, slightly herbal bitterness in the finish. Full body, really heavy on the malt side, but smooth and rounded mouthfeel. Excellent beer!

Mahogany color, very dark; the head reduces quickly. Sweet aroma, molasses and figs jam, frankly not stimulating. Sweet flavor, caramel and molasses, with figs and dates; in the final there is more bitterness, not aggressive, from dark caramel. Bold, drinkable, but also cloying; overall it’s not an extremely positive experience; very dubious.

Bottle, from Kris Wines, London. Drunk in Haarlem sat by a windmill. Deep dark brown pour with a medium tan head that gradually faded but still had some life in it until the end. Super sweet aroma with dark fruit molasses, booze, chocolate and malt aplenty. Thickish slightly chewy mouthfeel. Not the most refined chappy really. Booze was clearly evident. Flavour pretty sweet and had some nice spicy/ fruity notes but the malty aspect was very nearly all consuming and smothered proceedings a litle. Certainly drinkable and quite tasty, but feel this could have been even better.

22oz bottle-pours a tan head and amber color. Aroma is date/raisin, sweet medium malt-caramel. Taste is dark malt-burnt/molasses/brown sugar/date/raisin, earthy/spice hops bite, alcohol. Better at cellar temperature.

500ml. Murky brown-amber color, frothy, soapy head. Very nice aroma, potent alcohol, pomegranate, and amber malt all collide. The taste is not dissimilar. Some pleasant fruity edges around a big, Belgian-like, amber malt body. A very nice offering from Hebrew, the pomegranate complements the big amber malt body excellently. Bonus points for ingenuity.

Bottle. Dark brown beer with a brown head. Rich malt and toffee aroma with dark fruit. Rich malt and alcohol flavor with toffee and dried fruit. Medium-plus bodied. Rich malt and dried fruit lingers with toffee and alcohol. Alcohol definitely noticeable.
