Draught @ Albion. Dark brown with reddish tint, small creamy beige head, medium carbonation, faint caramel aroma, little caramel and roasted hazelnut taste, thin body, medium bitter finish with roasted nut aftertaste. Not bad, not great either.

Pours an almost black from a bottle. Nice fruity sour aroma. Flavor is an intense mish mash of pomegranate molasses, coffee, and oak. Nicely sour. Interesting and pretty good beer.

650 ml Bottle purchased at One Stop Market, Haverhill, MA. Paid $9.95. Deep brown/ red color with low carbonation level. Aroma is molasses, caramel and very mild whiskey hints. Flavor is very sweet with just a light barrel treatment for minor balance.
Texture is syrupy, sweet and damn near cloying. Very low carbonation. Overall is not awful but the bourbon treatment is weak and doesn’t help cut the sweetness very much. Also, no bottle coding marked anyplace. I have no idea how long it sat on the shelf. Not bad but not what I was hoping for.

22 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 10/27/2015. Pours crystal clear dark reddish brown color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted oak, bourbon, raisin, cherry, plum, fig, apple, vanilla, brown bread, herbal, light pepper/pine, light chocolate/nuttiness, and oak/toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon barrel, fruity yeast, and earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted oak, bourbon, raisin, cherry, plum, fig, apple, vanilla, brown bread, herbal, light pepper/pine, light chocolate/nuttiness, and oak/toasted earthiness. Moderate amount of herbal/pine bitterness and bourbon/oak spiciness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted oak, bourbon, raisin, cherry, plum, fig, apple, vanilla, brown bread, pepper, pine, and bourbon/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon barrel, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitter/spiciness balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitter/spiciness that increases through the glass. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy, and lightly slick/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is a very nice barrel aged English strong ale style. All around good complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/bready malt, bourbon barrel, fruity yeast, and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a very dark brown color with a huge foamy dark tan head that lingered and left decent lacing. The aroma was tart and sour with chalk, soy sauce and brett. The flavor was sour and tart with soy sauce, strong brett, cherry and molasses. Long finish. Medium body. Odd but ok.

Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, moderate creamy/bready, and sticky/chalky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a light warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an excellent American strong ale! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/pine/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and dark/bready malt flavors; and very smooth and easy to sip on for the huge ABV. This year’s version was a lot less intense on the dark malt sweetness and more balanced with the hop profile. A very enjoyable offering.

Bottle. Aroma of citrus hops but also a lot of toasted malts. I have a feeling I’m not going to love it. Taste is syrupy citrus peel and toasted malts. Not a fan of the malts they’re using here.

A golden amber DIPA with a thick frothy lacing light mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity caramel malt with resinous floral hops, light treacle, pleasant. In mouth, a nice sweet caramel malt with light vinous notes, treacle, resinous floral hops, grapefruit pulp, alcohol warmth, very nice and interesting. On tap at North Country Brewfest 2016.
