From bottle, thanks to Maria. Pours hazy orange with a lacing white head. Dense malt, light spiced aroma. Woody and liqourice flavour. Dry and with a distinct hops liqourice note. Dry and smooth finish. Woody in the far finish.

Tap at Hop Devil - one of the hits of the day for me - cloudy copper beer with a soapy lacing - strong hoppy aroma, with notes of oak, toasted vanilla bean - flavor of herbal hops, spruce, some floral qualities - a candy-ish sweetness forms underneath, but the hops and bitter herbal flavors keep it in check really well - really well-hidden alcohol comes to the fore a little as it warms, but is never all that evident - very nice.

Nice deep amber coloured body with a thinnish tan head. Aroma of funky skunks, candy, caster sugar, pumpkins, spice and old stale hops. Medium-bodied; Over-hopped taste that seems a bit off, but definitely better than the smell - with a good malt backbone and a great bittering taste. Aftertaste is all about the hops - bitterness throughout with an overpowering of the flowers. This feels like the beer will pass right through me, but thats probably a good thing, due to the hops. Overall, a decent beer given the locality and the bad smell. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle at a small beer shop in New Paltz, New York but tasted on the Eastern Shore of Virginia on 29-October-2005.

Pint pour @ brewery/restaurant. Color is so damn pale but one still cannot see through it yet a whole lot of light is passing through it. Small head but a sticky lacing. Aroma is coriander-and-lemon-irific. A bit earthy. Taste is bit minimally very light and biter herb-hops. A long lightly bitter aftertaste. Nice wit, I hope this becomes more common.

Draft @ brewery/restaurant, I have been looking to try this for a while. Color is dark amber, looks like clear syrup with reflecting light in its dark but clear body. Aroma is strawberry/cherry preserves mixed alcohol and sweet hops. Taste is tropical fruits with sugar sweetness and sweet hops. Enough hops in there but lots of sweetness from fruit-honey. There is also a strong alcoholic finish, burns the throat. However, it’s forgivable in this beer. A lighter body that is really counterbalanced with sweetness and alcohol. Weird, but it all just kind of comes together well enough.

Cloudy golden pour, with a small ring of lace - semi-tart aroma, with apples, pears, peaches, and some soft, earthy, vegetal qualities - lots of lemon zest up front - light, perfume/aromatic notes - some pear flavor, along with, I swear, touches of strawberry yogurt (god bless unfiltered beers and their occassional idiosyncracies) - an interesting golden ale, but I don’t think everything I’m tasting was intended to be there.

Deep dark brown coloured body, about 90% opaque with a small tan head. Aroma of metal, cherries, prunes, apples, roasted malt and a tiny bit of coffee - more fruity than roasty. Medium to Light-bodied; Super sweet flavour of caster sugar, milk (lactic qualities here, definitely), prunes, plums, raisins and some smoke. Aftertaste more reminiscent of a sweet beer - fruit and caramel are the key players in the palate. Overall, definitely a nice one - perhaps one of the better sweet stouts i’ve ever had. Get this one if you can find it - you won’t be dissapointed. I found my twelve ounce bottle, which I purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 13-April-2007.

Thanks Eugene, 12 oz bottle from beastiefan2k; Nose is a nice mix of decent hoppiness with a little malty caramel; Copper orange with a medium, longlasting yellowish head, unusual for an IPA; nice hop bitterness with some citrus notes and hops lasting into the finish.
