Bottle that I picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, Nr Gent consumed at Baz’s, Manchester 19.01.12 Pours hazy dark amber. There is plenty of chocolate about this, touch of powdery bitter cocoa, Baz said that he got caramel. Sweet & fruity with some hops showing, the abv is also noticeable for the warmth that it adds. Nice beer. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

75 cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012, Antwerpen courtesy of Antoine.

14/I/2012 - 75cl bottle @ RBBWG 2012 - BB: n/a (2012-49) Thanks to Antoine for bringing the bottle!

Cloudy beige to yellowish beer, small creamy white head, unstable, pretty adhesive. Aroma: fruity, flowery, some citrus, grapefruit, soapy but not in a bad way. MF: low to no carbon, light to medium body. Taste: bitter hoppy start, soft citrus, sweet touch, roses or other flowers, honey. Aftertaste: pretty bitter ending, bit cheesy, dry flowery finish.

Sampled 75 cl. bottle @ Kerstbierfestival 2011: beautifully wrapped bottle, this looks quite impressive – apparently limited to 300 bottles – bottled in April 2011: A: black with a mocha head – S: coffee, dark malts, bitter chocolate & cognac – T: cognac, syrup, dark malts, cold coffee, winter spices, touch sweet pureed dark fruits, booze aftertaste – frankly this is a tuned down version of the regular one & not a boost – B: closing on thick, full definitely, low carb – nice but the regular version is much nicer

25 cl. draft @ Delirium Tap House: dark brown with a tanned head & nice lacing – smells sweet with syrup, chocolate, dark fruits & hops, tastes very syrupy with chocolate sauce mixed with dark fruits upfront (lots & lots of plums as well as some prunes & touch of dark grapes), aftertaste is strong almost like cognac-like but only slightly alcoholic but also sweet with chocolate, spices, slight ash, sweet/bitter syrup aftertaste – B: slick, oily, syrupy – great Belgian stout worth getting if you can

Sample @ Kerstbierfestival ’11 Essen. First sample from a 75cl unlabeled bottle, second was from a paper wrapped bottle which indicated bottle #202/300. Not sure if this is a second run of the original Cognac Cask.
