Bottled. Clear deep golden. Sweet with clean mouthfeel and rich maltiness. Notes of paper before a grassy bitter finish sets in. Solid, not stunning.

Bottled. Dark ruby, no head. Aroma of black currant. Sweet and malty with a hint of balsamic acidity as well as black cherries and raspberries. Roasty with notes of licorice. Salty finish. Complex and very good!

(Bottle 25 cl) 5,7% ABV in my version. Dark brown, but far from black. Small tan head. Roasted almost burned malty notes and distinctively dry with a very light body. Actually rather refreshing. Never really considered this a Stout though. 260598

(Bottle 33 cl) Rather unusual "Blond" as the extreme yeast makes this more grey than anything else - nice, rocky head. A bit flat too. Soft, yet spicy but still fresh and pleasant. 300398

Dark ruby color, small tanned head, lots of floatign yeast. Citric nose, underlying berries and malts. Carbonated mouthfeel. Candy sugar, roasted malts. Quite simple, sweet and watery.

Hazy golden, small off-white head, floating yeast particles. Sweetish-banana & pear aroma with light alcohol and yeast. Sweet fruity flavor, which hides alcohol very well. Liquerish palate. Quite one-dimensional and sugary.

(Bottled 25 cl) Originally Van den Bossche only made one "Pater Lieven" called just that - and this is it. 5,7% ABV. Darkisk with a rather atypical light body with some slightly tart notes. Dry and not very bitter - reminds me more of a dark, Danish lager. But very refreshing indeed. 070594 New 6,5% ABV version at 240498

(Bottle 33 cl) Orangey golden beer with a huge and rather stable head. First impression is sweetness quickly balanced by a dry hoppiness. Very pleasant and with less alcoholl-burn than in most tripels. 050394

(Bottle 25 cl) Vintage 2003 at 9% ABV: very dark brown, almost opaque. Pronounced impurities from the bottle fermentation. Weak, light brown head. Extremely delicious malt aromas, slightly smoked and rather dry but not sharp at all with a rather subdued bitterness. The alcohol is scaringly well hidden. 040505 As "Kerstpater" 6,5% ABV, probably vintage 1997. 7/4/7/3/14=3,5
