Bottle from Charles Street Liquors. 15.2% edition. "Romance by the glass". Shit, maybe I should change out of these sweat pants.
Baby Duvel tulip. Soggy cork. Looks like Darjeeling tea.
Sweet, fruity, tart, nougat-y scent. Mild, chocolaty, tobacco-infused coffee lingers about.
Early apple tartness lends way to tobacco, melding earthy/woody vanilla, baking chocolate, smoke, & just a drip of hazelnut-like coffee. Bitter, lingering apple peel/core.
Smooth, deep, & decently bitter, despite the sweetness. Coffee doesn’t get too intense. Could try to be a bit denser, but it tastes invigorating & relaxing at the same time. Definitely should let this sweat before popping. Caffeine!

Honey aroma. Clear pale yellow, frothy. Honey flavor, semi-sweet, no nuance. Thin body. Surprising lack of complexity for a cyser. The label says there is a greater proportion of cider, but the honey dominated everything. Apples aren’t detected, but may serve as a moderating agent to keep it from being cloying. Enjoyable but ordinary.

Red currant nose. Ruby red color. Intense cranberry flavor, very sour. Full body. Little mead character, but tasty nonetheless.

Pours into the glass a crystal clear medium golden color with a smattering of bubbles that dissipate instantly. The aroma is mostly apple and pie spices with little to no honey evident in the nose. The flavor is sweet with a honey like sugary sweetness that is countered by a nice shot of apple cider and a load of cinnamon. Medium body with a sweet sugar water kind of mouthfeel going on. I can see what all the hype is about this is quite a clean and flavorful mead.

Courtesy of Sparky. Pours rosy red with ruby red hues here and there. The aroma is sugary sweet heading into honey goodness and a blueberry dark currant sort of mix. The taste starts sweet and rich with smooth honey and then gets into more and more near tart berry notes. Nice stuff. It ends a little dry and almost red wine like.

2021: Berry, earthy, tannic, very acrid & sour. 2.8 2012: 3.2 4oz-ish glass @ Sunset Grill. Color is a very deep red, clear, blending into some black n blue. Smell is blush wine, warmed honey, & yeast. Berry compote & a snap of alcohol. Not crazy bold like some of their others, but still enticing. Taste is of berry juice, skin, & grass. Just lightly sweet & earthy honey. Mostly softened tannic skin. Some acid, but no real bold honey notes to play off it. Drier then expected. On the thin side. A lingering shiraz-ish wine finish. Good berry flavor, just a bit too winey.

Bottle from Charles St. Liquors. Baby Duvel glass. Clear, rich, straight gold body. Tiny, tiny particles. Uniform legs. Slight bit of foaming. Smells is quite big on floral honey. Chamomile, cream, maple candies, apple acidity, wax. Fuming alcohol. Somewhat sharp apple/malic acid forward taste. White sugar sweetness. Waxy floral/grassy honey. Tart lemon. Savignon Blanc. Bit of cardboard. Slippery body, subtly numbing. Grain & mushroom-like earthiness on the finish. Went in expecting something rich & deep, but still enjoyed the bottle.
