Pours mahogany into a Trappist glass. Off-white head quickly recedes to skim surface. Smoke aromas. Sharp and smoky with a dusty smoked bitter chocolate finish.

Bottled (thanks jbrus!). Beautiful coppery amber, hazy, colour with mediumsized off white head that vanishes quite fast. Aroma is fruity hops, yeast, some slight herbal and bready notes. Flavour is zest, some yeast, malts, coriander, herbs and some other fruits too. Alcohol gives a nice sweet edge to it all. Very wellbalanced, palate is on the close border to being a bit too sticky, but luckily stays out of the worst stickyness. Well done, Menno!

Very flat. Somewhat muddy dark brown with no head. Rich, tarry nose is full of dark fruits, charred molasses malts, salty sting and earthy richness. Full body. The mouthfeel is only slightly oily. Thick, rich, filling. Very sweet but with substantial roast bitterness at the back. Some of that 72% cacoa good stuff, along with rich Yunnan tea, more burnt sugars, Chinese doughnut sweetness and barely-there fruits. A rich, hearty brew that finishes simultaneously sweet, silky and intense.

Bottle: Poured a reddish orange brown with an off white color head. Aroma is fruity with a sweet pine tree and pineapple. Taste is rich with caramel malt, yet it has just enough harsh hops to balance it. My mouth is numb and warm, very interesting beer. Molenbrouwer hits another beer right out of the park!

Bottle, 7.7% at LCRBM08. Good roasted aroma, slightly creamy. Very nice creamy, malty and nutty, as if nuts were added. Pleasant carbonation.
