Description
Four Winds joined the burgeoning BC craft beer scene and opened their doors to a public thirsty for new local offerings on June 1, 2013. Owned, operated and built from the ground up by the Mills family and friends, we are inspired by the Four Winds in gathering flavours from around the world to create our unique West Coast and European styles. We take great pleasure in the application of new world innovations while staying true to old world techniques. Motivated by the limitless potential of beer, as well as the great brewers who came before us, we aim to craft bold beers with character, depth, and balance.

Vibrant opaque colour, thin head. Bright peach, white wine, clean pale malts, medium bitterness, hops are aromatic on the palate as well. Pithy white grapefruit bitterness, again peachy, fresh. Excellent.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg 15/08/2024). Hazy golden orange with small white head. Soft strawberry and vanilla underlying a nectarous base. Fairly subdued, but better than expected.

Poured from 473mL can (side by side with Monocle - Nectaron; pkg 21/09/24). Hazy blonde gold with minimal white head. Soft citrus and feint melon hops. A bit subdued. Noticeably different from the Monocle - Nectaron and a bit more balanced, but it's quite timid in execution, leaving a feeling of unfulfillment.

Poured from 473mL can (side by side with Monocle II - Superdelic; pkg 29/08/24). Hazy blonde gold with small white head. Lightly dank, tropical nose, taste is more subdued, a bit tangy with mild stone fruit character, some weird feint chalk in the background. Not as cohesive as Monocle II - Superdelic, but more flavourful and potent.

On tap at Four Winds Beach House, pours a cloudy peachy yellow with a small white head. Aroma has some dank hops, car exhaust, stone fruit pith, and some citrusy bitterness. Flavour is fruity and bitter, without any chalk or hopburn whatsoever; there's bit stone fruit juiciness, very bitter citrus hops, some dankness, and a tiny bit of sweetness. This won't please typical hazy heads since it lacks sweetness and is quite bitter, but I'm definitely happy about it.

On tap at Four Winds Beach House, pours a clear golden with a small white head. Aroma has lots of spicy, piney hops, strong woodiness to the hop expression, and a thin biscuity malt base. Flavour is biting and bitter, but with a slightly less pleasing hop expression; plenty of bitter piney hops, citrus bitterness, but also some herbal character I could do with our, backed by a crisp biscuity malt. Piney, bitter, with a dry, crisp finish. Very good.

Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 6.5

On tap at Four Winds Beach House, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a medium white head. Aroma is lightly stone fruity, with earthy, citrusy hops and a touch of murky chalk. Flavour has reasonably clarity for a hazy pale, with light white grape, earthiness, some bitterness, soft floral notes, and stone fruit pith. Not the most expressive or dialed in but well-made for what it is.

On tap at Four Winds Beach House, pours a hazy blonde with a small white head. Aroma exudes a big guava character upfront, backed by a thin, dry biscuity malt base and a touch of citrusy hops. Flavour is more laid back: it's definitely mostly guava upfront, with a soft floral hop character underneath, and a dry finish. Clean and pleasant, even if unexciting.
