Pony Bar, NY tap ($5): Pours an amber color with an off-white head. Aroma is very citrusy, with sufficient malt backbone. Although the alcohol in this one is pretty low, this beer covers that up with loads of flavor. Grapefruit dominates this pretty solidly. Some nice malty sweetness in the background as well. Well-balanced.

Pumpkin, cinnamon, brown sugar, ginger, and allspice nose, with a touch of molasses. Clear brown, medium cream colored head, decent lacing. Thin body. Flavor is peanut hulls and brown sugar, not nearly as complex as it smells.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy apricot color with a small foamy white head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was band aid, dry, medicinal faint citrus and was a touch tangy. The flavor was tangy bread, bitter vague citrus and band aid. Long finish of band aid and citrus. Medium body. Not good.

Bottle on a train into NYC, post-wedding. Pours cloudy brown with a fine, beige cream head. Sugary malt nose, some caramel, brown sugar, dried fruits. Medium sweet flavor, some dry bread, dried cranberries, lightly tangy caramel. Medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Rounded dark sugar finish, more caramel, light alcohol, some dust and dirt, a bit of demerara sugar. Overall it’s just OK.

bottle from Gingerman to enjoy Patriots vs Ravens game at home. Pours deep mahogany with no head to speak og. Aroma is very faint especially for a pumpkin beer just the light typically spicing. Tastes of nutmeg, cinnamon, light pumpkin, cardboard, malt, but all of these are extremely subdued. Palate is very thin and this just lacks any um ph or excitement.

12oz bottle from Wegman’s, King of Prussia, PA. Deep reddish chestnut with a thin cream head; sweet, malty aroma, as expected, with perhaps a trace of maple syrup; the taste is similar, rather thin with caramel malts, and a hint of maple; the finish is rather muddy and dry.
