Can. Cloudy orange with a modest white head. Aroma of fresh pine needles, mandarin peel, pineapple, hints of spices. Light bodied, lowish carbonation. Dryish with a little biscuit and crackers. Tropical and citrus fruit get swept away by resin and spices at a finish that's more dry than bitter. Not quite for me. Not convinced it's as intended.

Aromas of caramel, butterscotch, grapefruit and quite an earthy note. That earthiness is very prominent, along with the grapefruit and some pine notes. The earthiness gives it an added layer of interest as it scrapes along the tongue. Couldn't get enough of it. (originally rated 3.1, Dec 2022. Said the earthy notes overwhelmed the other flavours and there was no taste on the back of the tongue. Slightly tweaked recipe since then?)

Pours gold with a large head.Nose show piny and resinous hops, pineapple, lychee, and clean malt.Flavours include more resinous and piny hops along with sweet clean malt, a faint biscuity malt. Very clean and easy going.

Bottle, from their advent box. Two years in the barrel, huh. Gold with a head that's completely gone as soon as it's poured. 3- I love apricots and the aroma is full of them in their jammy, fleshy, slightly tart way. There are some floral and boot polish notes too. Slightly slippery, low carbonation. A little bit of body but never seems heavy - really nicely judged. Dryish with some illusion of sweetness due I guess to some caramelisation of the fruit. Mainly about apricots with a little tidying up spiced oak, zingy and slightly bitter finish. Lovely stuff.

Bottle from their Advent calendar. Black indeed with a light tan head that fades to an inch or so. Aroma of mocha brioche, nectarines, oranges. A fair bit of carbonation but smooth textured and only fullish bodied. Taste confirms this one is more like a big Belgian twist on Dark Harvest: very fruity, soft dough, mocha more than roast, moderate, somewhat piney bitterness that builds to become maybe a little overbearing. Continues last year's return to form. Dangerously drinkable.

From a 750ml bottle on 25/12/2021 (shared by Butz with thanks). Pours a deep brown with little in the way of head. The nose is malty and fruity, with a good dash of chocolate and spice in the mix. On the sip, it's quite intense yet very smooth, with chocolate, coffee, orange and hints of dark fruit, which is met by a firm pine hoppiness which balances the whole package out very nicely. Don't get the Begian aspect though. Medium modied with average carbonation. Pretty easy drinking for 10% and a really good double black IPA.

Can, Advent box. Slightly hazy orange with a white head that's very soon gone. Aroma is pretty convincingly passionfruit pulp topped pavlova. Sweet but a bit of bitterness and the acidic edge from passionfruit balance things enough to keep it drinkable. A hint of warmth, which also suits it. Not quite my thing but well done.

Can, Advent pack. Gold with an inch of white head that lasts and laces quite well. Bready and slightly grainy aroma with some floral notes. Sweet and quite rich with decent floral and spice tinged bitterness. I would have liked it a bit drier at the end but it's a sound and wholesome drop.

Can, from their Advent box. Black; a modest tan head is soon gone. 3- Aroma of singed caramel, mocha, vanilla - OK but simple and superficial. But softer and deeper upon a sip with a roasty rumble under the mocha sweetness with liquorice, (spelling it this way at least in this review despite what spellcheck says) vanilla and white pepper joining moderate but nagging bitterness at the end. A bit of a mixed bag but good on balance.

(Can) Pours hazy golden with tiny head. Interesting aroma with funk, lemon, pineapple, hint of gunpowder. Nice mouthfeel, medium bodied and soft with plenty of gentle carbonation. Good taste too, interesting, unusual and enjoyable. The start is somewhat tart with lemony citrus notes. These develop into a mix of fruity notes especially pineapple with pleasant tartness. At the end there are some surprising and salty hints. Enjoyable and refreshing.
