Bottle. This is a great beer. The way the cinnamon and spice complement the chocolate. Yum!

Bottle. I think it was a great idea to have all these different stouts together in a sampler pack. This is also very tasty. Vanilla is really nice.

Bottle. Again I'll say, I think it was a great idea to have all these different stouts together in a sampler pack. Though not as good as the other stouts, this is also very tasty.

Bottle. Golden in color with a two finger head. More coconut in the aroma than the flavor.

Aroma is very very sweet with slight oaky notes, and quite a bit of sweet nutinesss. The hops have been subdued and have turned slightly soapy. The booze is prevalent and a little to up front. The finish is quite sweet but it does finish bitter with a sweet malty nutty finish.

2007 vintage bottle. Poured a very dark brown, a little lighter than expected. Aroma is thick and sweet, loads of bourbon, vanilla oak and booze. The barrel ageing really masks alot of the impy stout aromas. The roastiness and cocoa are quite mute. Flavor is strong with an intense bails maple sweetness. There are some light toasty notes and a semi bitter finish. Overall this is very sweet and the barel ageing is too over the top.

Light roasty aroma with touches of coffee, but its pretty light. Flavor is watery, touches of roasted malt, some light coffee, and hints of vanilla.

Promo bottles from Schlafly, which I had tried before, but not sat down to review before. Pours brownish black in the glass, with very little visible fizz or head. The nose is almost overwhelming with bourbon barrel and alcohol, redolent of vanilla. The flavor is straight bourbon notes, with a hint of cocoa from char and vanilla from oak, the rest is picked up from whatever bourbon barrels were used for this. Not roast harshness, just smooth with a little fizz, finally, at the back of the throat. Well, a little bit of roast aftertaste pops in at the back of the palate.
