Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

Pours a golden amber from a bottle with a thick pillowy white head, slowly dissipating leaving lots of lacing. Nose is intensely floral with a touch of hay. Flavor is also floral, but starting to throw in a bit of fruits, like peaches in syrup kind of a thing. Sweet but not cloying, ending on a bitter note. Full mouthfeel, slightly oily but not in a bad way. Very good beer.

Pours a slightly hazy amber from a bottle, aroma of grass/hay, similar flavor, rather bitter on the end. A little muddled in the execution IMHO. Okay beer.

RIP Pretty Things! Light citrus and some hay. Some light spur mash malt. Doesn’t mesh super well - I hope this isn’t my last of their beers! Would hate to finish on this note. Golden pour with good head and lacing. Tangy finish. Tap at Deep Ellum.

Pours a golden amber from a bottle. Not much aroma to speak of, a citrusy lemon flavor. Rather dry, nice finish. Good beer.

I left some in the glass as tribute to what may be my last pretty things rating. RiP! Roast and some light caramel. Pours black with good head and lacing. Light bitter finish with touch of sour mash.

Draught at Sunset Grill, 11/25/15. Clear sunset-orange body is moderately carbonated and is topped by a white head with moderate retention. Herbs, grass and light citrus in the nose, with a touch of vanilla, biscuits and various other grains showing forth. Floral notes and some light sharpness late. Not getting any saison-like qualities from the nose. The flavor is quite bitter, hoppy and even a touch resinous. Black pepper, grass, dried herbs and lots of lemon-like acidity are all piled on top of a sparse, medium body with light pale malt sweetness. Average carbonation. Maybe a touch of earthiness and some decent fruitiness. How is this anything like a saison whatsoever? Just a very basic pale ale with too much sharp grassiness and perfume to boot.

Rerate, 2015 bottle, thanks to Willrunforbeer! October 2015 bottling drunk 11/11/22.
Smells better than I remember. Leather, fruit, rather overripe. Maybe a bit putrid. In the mouth it's corky/leathery, hint of lime. Really bizarre stuff. Yeah , time hasnt done any favors for this. Quite disgusting!

Bottle sample at a tasting at Dancing Camel Florentin. Thanks Alon. Hazy yellow with a white head. Aroma of fruity esters, spiciness, yeast. Sweetish flavor, fruity, yeasty, with a mildly bitterish and slightly spicy finish, with a light alcoholic note. Medium-bodied.

Pours clear gold into a snifter. Bright white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Cracked biscuit and hot sourdough aromas. Peppery yeast and caramel upfront turning sharp in the medium length bitter earth finish.
