Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

The Sampler, Brooklyn bottle: pours golden with a white head. Aroma is lightly funky and malty. Taste is kind of sweet for a saison. Still a bit dry. Kind of lightly bitter. Not too exciting.

Poured from a bottle dated Nov. 2015. Aroma is nice with some pear and stone fruit notes with a bit of tropical fruit and citrus. Light pepper and other phenolic notes with a bit of grain. Pours a slightly hazy, bright yellow gold with a medium sized, thick white head with good retention. Medium to medium high lacing with faint legs. Flavor is slightly sweet with some light grain notes and a bit of cracker. Moderate bitterness with a bit of grass and woodsy hop notes. Light phenolic spice notes of pepper and clove. Some pear, citrus and tropical fruit with a bit of stone fruit as well. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall, a very nice clean Saison. One of my favorites and I?m sad to see it go. Clean yeast with nice grain notes.

Bottle. Pours a near clear light orange with a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has earthy grass and earthy citrus with a touch of flora as well as a touch of sweet grains backing. Flavor has earthy citrus up front with a bit of resin and some sweet grains in the finish.

Bomber from Bine & Vine. Pours hazy copper gold with a beige head. Aroma is fairly hoppy - but the combo makes me think of cooked stone fruits. With a spice hint. Med body or better. It’s rather malty. Hop is light stone fruits, some biting spice, and arguably floral. Given the name it better be floral. Somehow I don’t think the hop combo coalesced well. The malt seems to be somewhat ignorable with time, and it thus seems to get bitter. Different sort of brew.

Pours a typical gold-amber from a bottle. Nose of dankness, BO. Flavor of peaches, pot, wildflowers, in that order. Initial floral sweetness quickly turns rather bitter. Also extremely boozy tasting, even though higher gravity beers often aren’t this boozy. I thought it was BA or something too, but no. Okay beer.

Pours a clear amber from a bottle. Nose of pear, a little lemon. Flavor is a very nice hoppy lager, everything very well-balanced, starts off sweet, ends rather bitter. An excellent representative of the style. Very good beer.

Pours golden from a bottle, some lacing. Aroma of cloves, citrus. Flavor full of yeasty spiciness, more cloves (in a good way), definite barnyard. Well-balanced, good beer.

Pours a dark brown from a bottle, little carbonation, almost still. Aroma is dark candi sugar, flavor is plummy brown sugar, almost like a plum upside-down cake. Boozy. Good beer.
