Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

Bottle thanks to Leighton. It pours cloudy golden-orange with a small white head. The nose is soft, juicy, apricot, mango, sherbet, earth and wheat. The taste is apricot, mango, earth, yoghurt, sherbet, hay, minerals, creamy and alka seltzer with a dry finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Smooth, balanced and easy-going. Nor bad.

Rich, super hazy deep brown coloured body with a very muddied glow and a nice two centimetre tall tan head - this is a great looking beer which has a very nice unfiltered look. Aroma of roasted malt, bananas, yeast, light cloves, milk and some subdued chocolate notes. Full-bodied; Strong malt note with a lot of pungent alcohol and bitterness up front with a little earthiness and a touch of coffee on the finish, all with a very big bitterness throughout from metal. Aftertaste is relatively one-dimensional with the malt bitterness hitting hard and some light sweetness as well. Overall, a fairly simple beer that looks great and smells nice, but the taste just simply doesn’t deliver - way too bitter and one-sided, while not providing any good flavours nor complexity. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from New Beer Distributors in New York, New York on 18-July-2014 for US$8,25 sampled at home here in Washington on 30-September-2014.

Bottle shared in London - picked up in MA. Pours cloudy yellow-orange with a frothy white head. Pleasant dried lemon aroma, some pine needles, pale bread. Medium sweet flavor with lightly tangy citrus, ripe lemon, weat bread, faint melon and grass. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with some bitter grass and citrus rind, further wheat bread, ripe lemon. Pretty well balanced. Tasty.
