Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

650ml bottle. (11.0% ABV) 2015 vintage. Pours a murky deep garnet with a small, creamy, long lasting, beige head that leaves curtains of lace. Sweet aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, caramel, bread, toffee, raisin and fig. Sweet flavour of toasted bready malt, caramel, toffee, brown sugar, chocolate, plum, cherry, raisin, fig and molasses with a dry, warming booze finish. Medium to full body with a smooth, sticky texture and soft carbonation. Nicely done. Well balanced, has some complexity and the ABV is well hidden.

November 2015 bomber shared by AdamC on 7/29/17. Also on tap pretty much permanently at Deep Ellum over the years.
Clear, chestnut-ruby body with a dark beige head atop showing good retention for its age.
Warm malt and soft red fruit tones mix together showing cherry, plum strawberry and light caramel-toffee. Low on any annoying breadiness, excess of alcohol or oxidation (just a minor touch of that). Light peppery phenols is all you get as far as the alcohol here and it never comes off syrupy as far as the malt goes. Very English and quite well-done if you like those types of barleywines (I do, in as much as I like barleywines - which is not at all anymore, really).
Candied orange, plum, strawberry and bright cherry interlaced with dry toffee, raisin and caramel with biscuit, vanilla and pepper on the finish. Definitely some warmth and alcohol but it only serves to balance the malt, which is already nicely attenuated. Low but ample carbonation and a soft, malty texture that belies the specialty malt here. Very nice and has aged gracefully.

22 oz bottle in a trade with ClarkVV awhile ago. This is dated Nov 2015. Deep mahogany brown with a good amount of carbonation left. Aroma is figs, mild caramel malt, dark fruit and a English ale yeast.

Flavor has bready malt, dark fruits, maybe mild Apple. Medium bodied with the booze almost hidden. No alcohol note or sugar. This aged pretty nice and enjoyable. Rest in Peace Pretty Things.
