Pours a pretty solid black color with a good sized tan head that slowly recedes and sticks itself to the glass. Smells of earthy spicy hops up front. Slight mineral twinge in there as well as some sweet toffee. Taste is sweet with a touch of alcohol at the onset but that sweetness is quickly overrun with an herbal, earthy bitterness that survives throughout most of the tasting range. Some butterscotch drops by for a second then there is some chocolaty sweet roast that tries to find a voice. Leaves a long lingering tea/hop bitterness in the finish. Full body, resinous and creamy mouthfeel, crisp carbonation. This one is different for sure, the more I drank the better I thought it was. Decent brew, probably not something I would drink often, but nice to have tried it.

The label is right, as a bonafide hophead, this was a new experience for me, Im sure its the same for an englishman to taste some of our west coast ipa’s and think they are really aromatic and flowery/citrusy, this is the opposite, very very bitter and without the grapefruit/floral aroma I am used to. A good ode to the english bitters or session ales, but not one I would look for again, i like my american style hoppy beers.

Bottle: Poured a clear medium copper color ale with a super large light brown head with great retention and some very good lacing. Aroma of light brown sugar notes with some light maple syrup notes and light dry fruits. Taste is a nice mix of brown sugar and light dry fruits with not as much character as expected. Body is below average for style with great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. I must admit to being slightly disappointed by this one with thin body and not much character but again though style to brew considering the best in style.

Pours a clear golden color with a fluffy white head that sticks around forever. Smells of spicy pine, citrus, Belgian yeast esters. Tastes of citrus and pine, finishes spicy with Belgian yeast esters. Medium body, smooth syrupy mouthfeel, ample carbonation. Strange little saison, a bit hop forward, but it kinda works. I liked it.

Bottle thanks to Pollack. Pours clear amber brown. Off white head. Nose of plum, grain alcohol, raisin, toffee and cocoa. Taste of sage, grain alcohol, plum, wood, toffee and raisin.

Bomber from Half Time. June 2010/Batch Six. Pours a very hazy, very dark brown with a creamy 3 finger beige head. Aromas of smooth dark malt and prunes. Med body. It’s very creamy in the mouth. Flavor is smooth dark malt with lots of plumminess. Certainly spicey. Very nice ale.

Bottle at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Hazy amber beer, little white head. Light palate, a little crisp. Mildy creamy malt that is slightly dry. Fresh yellow grapefruit and pink grapefruit. Not too bitter. Decent.

Bottle at the Beer Temple, Amsterdam. Very hazy amber beer. Little white head. Dry palate, slightly soft. Creamy malt with a trace of spice. Vibrant fresh grapefruit and it’s accompanying bitterness. Soft and dry finish. Bitter aftertase. Quite a hoppy-bitter saison but it slipped down very easy!

Black with a firm and lasting tan head. Aroma dominated by citrus notes like lime, along with caramel, molasses and bread crust. Dry roasted and licorice flavour with citrus notes and a very bitter finish
