Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours a mostly clear, sparkling yellow with a medium, fizzy white head. Quite sweet aroma with lightly roasted malts, bread and crackers, light grass and florals. Flavor is very sweet, with strong malt and bread notes and mild hops. Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes sweet with a nice, crisp bite. The overall impression is sweet but I didn’t find it overly so. Good stuff.

Tap at Rattle n Hum. Pours clear, dark brown with a medium, creamy off-white head. Lightly roasted malt aroma with some caramel. Flavor is sweet and malty with more caramel and bread notes. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Finishes with more malty sweetness and some mild bitterness. Very good.

A clear brown ale with a thick collapsing brown head. A pleasant aroma of burned caramel, plums, orange peels, dark fruits. In mouth, a superb sweet and bitter belgian ale with loads of dark fruits, a good bitterness, in finale, like a bitter liquor made of wild herbs, with warming alcohol. Wow! Taste early July 2010.

22oz bottle pours a deep, garnet brown with a creamy, slightly off white head. Nose is sweet, sugary, caramel, orange candies. Flavor is sweet, caramel, corn sugar, sweet dough. Finish is full bodied and sweet. Just too much sweetness all around.

Batch 2 bottle courtesy of j12601. Thanks! Pours a hazy golden color with a large pillowy white head. Decent head retention and lacing. The aroma is herbal and nutty with notes of citrus and spice. The taste is Fruity taste with lots of stone fruit notes, some grassiness, spiciness, caramel, citrus and a bitter herbal finish. Medium-full bodied. Strong carbonation. Very nice beer.

Bottle thanks to Russ! Pours a cloudy deep gold with a white head that dissipates completely. Aroma has a nice citrus note with some floral and a hint of rye. Flavor is sweet with floral and citrus notes. The rye comes in a bit in the finish for a smooth finish.

Bottle at whole foods. Pours a nice dark brown and good aroma. taste is of light chocolate malt and is very easy drinking. Don’t get a ton else on this as its quite mild and my palate needs to punched in gullett to even get out of bed.

Location: Draft at Rattle 'N' Hum, 7/14/10
Aroma: The nose has some dark fruits, spice, some Belgian yeast, and caramel
Appearance: It pours a dark orange color with a cloudy beige head a top it
Flavor: The taste is moderately sweet with a dark fruit feel, malty, with a mild hop presence
Palate: This beer has a nice warming feeling to it, a medium body, and a pretty decent mouthfeel
Overall Impression: A pretty solid American-style quad. I liked this one. It was a little lighter then a lot of the huge Quads that exist out there, but I thought it was still pretty good stuff.
