Description
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project began on a shoestring budget in 2008. We exist to allow 20 year professional brewer Dann Paquette to make an honest living while giving his imagination free reign. We brew our beers in other people's breweries because we can't afford our own. We enjoy the up-at-dawn lifestyle and the freedom to brew beers of our own imagining. We brew all our beers ourselves: Dann brews and formulates, Martha mills in. We dream up our beers together, inspired by Europe, by history, and by BEER and all it can be. We are based in Somerville, but brew mostly in Westport, MA, hence the early mornings. Cheers!

22 ounce bottle at the Publick House. Clear orange, thick, creamy white head. Aroma of dust and orange peel, and a ton of coriander. Taste is bitter, dry, licorice, pepper, orange. Unbalanced. Odd. 3.2 Re-taste: sample of 2010 version at Paradiso Georgetown. Significantly improved recipe with nice sour grapefruit and barnyard aroma and taste, much better complexity and character.

What a great name for a beer! Tap at Deep Ellum, recommendation of Judy - thanks! Clear golden color, thin white head, solid lacing. Aroma of white bread. Taste has citrus, apple, vanilla. Slightly sour, consistent with Brett and/or lacto. Very nice.

Pours light maple syrup into a snifter. Off-white head pancakes to mottle surface leaving slight lacing. Banana aromas. Thick with caramel syrup-soaked bananas flambe upfront turning bitter chocolate in the lasting finish. Alcohol well hidden.

Pours a hazy deep gold into a snifter. Bright white micro head pancakes as it recedes leaving scant spiders. Orange, lemon and yeast aromas. Sweet lemon cookie and honey upfront turning pleasantly hoppy in the lasting saaz and alcohol burn. This one’s a winner.

Bottle sampled at Firefly, pours medium brown with a light head. Subtle aroma of chocolate, nuts and roasted malt. Flavour of chocolate upfront (unusual for a brown ale), nuts, some sweet malt and vanilla. Very nice.

Bottle sampled at Firefly, pours a hazy golden. Aroma of fruit, citrus and orange peel. Flavour is complex - tart bitterness, fruit, citrus, light malt sweetness and well-balanced with hops. Really great saison.

Bottle sampled at Firefly, pours dark amber brown. Aroma of caramel malts and plum. Flavour is dominantly plum, not very sweet for a Quad, but very fine on the palate. Excellent drink.

Bottle. Pours clear golden with an enormous white head. Light citrus hopiness, light sourness, light spicienss. Fresh. Something about it reminds me of a pilsener. A laid back beer that still has got some character.
