bottle - Oh look, it’s yet another piss yellow, grainy smelling pale lager. I did pick up a little hops in the nose too. The good news is it’s better than Bud, Miller, and a number of other beers of this style. Though maybe I was favorly biased because I was enjoying some good food at the time that I tried the Kirin. The bad news is that it’s still not very good. There’s some mild malt flavors, not much hops, a thin body, and a dry feel more consistent with the Asian pale lagers. That’s about it.

Thin, slightly matly brew. Very little taste, with only a hint of bitterness in the finish. Very unimpressive, though not "bad."

Mostly grain and some sweet malts, no real hops to speak of. Unimpressive pale lager, but not awful like some.

330 ml bottle. Pitch black body with a foamy head. Light smoked aroma with some fruit. Flavor is light burnt, some coffee, some chocolate and a bit of nuts. The alcohol is not to distinctive but gives the body a bit watery impression. Some hint of acid in the relatively short aftertaste. Not a bad beer at all, but somehow a bit inharmonious.

Of course, since it is a light beer, it won’t be half as good as the original beer it’s based on. This is the case for this beer.

[Bottled (in Hong Kong, 5.5%)] Golden, average head. Striking aroma of green apples. Sweetish with concentrated juicy green apple flavour. No trace of adjuncts. The mouthfeel and flavour profile is strikingly clean, and it finishes completely without bitterness. Thankfully lacks the many off-flavours of the Carlsbergs and Heineken’s of teh world, making it a plausible choice of you want to quench your thirst without feeling any taste.

[Canned] Pale golden, very brief head. Metallic aroma. Sweet and syrupy despite it’s weak body and mellow mouthfeel. Free from vegetable flavour, instead rice and metal are dominating. Rusty finish without bitterness..

Golden lager with a thin creamy white head. Dont know about superior hops but mine was like deviled eggs, with maybe some peppery hops in finale. In mouth, a rather sweet and cloying taste, metallic and unpleasant. Didnt bring me good times, for sure! Brought back from Tokyo from a colleague.

Sampled on draft this beer poured a pale golden color with a small white head. There is only a faint aroma with a vague macro-ish element. The flavor is dry and nutty with very little body, no hops to speak of and no aftertaste. Bland and inoffensive.
