Pitch black. Creamy head. Nose is loaded with vanilla, oak and espresso. Taste more of the same. Very creamy.

Pretty black in the glass. Head is frothy almost with specks of white and brown. Creamy almost. Stale espresso beans, milk and Oreos. Very toasty throughout. Taste is very toasty. Mineral like mouthfeel. Coffee exploded in the middle and finishes long and smooth. Minor sweetness. Cocoa cookies. Very drinkable porter but very hard to drink a lot of it.

Coriander, honey and musty oak on the nose. Bready as well. Minor sulphur taste, bread and biscuit. Very yeasty. Really great mouthfeel.

Crap. Just realized I never rated this beer. I had it via bottle at Farmhouse fest at Hill Farmstead. It was labeled differently back then. Hazy and golden. looked gorgeous in the late summer sun. Grapey, dog biscuit, crystal sweetness and a burst of lemon rind. Mild funk really bright. Enjoyed quite a bit and would have again.

On tap at the brewery. Aroma is fairly hoppy with quite a bit of grapefruit citrus notes and some lighter tropical fruit balanced with moderate notes of pine resin. Medium light cracker and biscuit character. Pours a fairly cloudy yellow orange with a small white head that recedes to the edges where it lingers nicely. Medium high lacing and faint legs. Flavor has a moderate cracker malt character with a light sweetness. Medium hop flavor of grapefruit and pine resin with some faint tropical fruit notes and light lemon notes. Medium high bitterness that is fairly assertive for the size of the beer. Finishes with a nice dryness. Mouthfeel is medium light bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low alcohol warmth. Overall a pretty enjoyable pale ale with a lot of hops but it has a danker hop character than something like Zombie Dust. A nice malt character balances the hop notes and bitterness.

Bottle @ Armin’s house, courtesy of bytemesis. Pours a bright cloudy yellow appearance with a white head. Juicy tropical fruity, pineapple, peach, funky, light bubblegum, bretty aroma. Somewhat tart, really juicy, apricot/peach, pineapple, vanilla, slightly sweet, bright fruity flavor. Tasty beer.

Thanks to Kyle for sharing this good beer. A sour black beer. Yeast in the aroma as well as roasted malt. Flavor is moderately sour and I can taste the wine, but not the berries specifically.

Tap. Pours cloudy pale gold, small white head that dissipates quickly with decent lacing. Aroma is light, dank spruce and citrus. Flavor is much the same, dank and earthy, light sweet and light bitter, pine resin and needles, things found on the forest floor (but not mushrooms). Well balanced. Medium body, a bit oily.

Bottle shared at theFuck Off Massive Friday tasting, big back slaps to our host Bruce for sharing this one - where was the sound track for this one man ?03/01/14. Murky light orange with a thin off white covering. Nose is tarte apricot, light spice, hay, orange pith, Brett notes, funky. Taste comprises tarte apricot, citric tinged straw, light farmyard, pithy citrics, hay, touh of funk and subtle Brett. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish. Decent saison but I was expecting more from this one given the ratings, didn’t hold a great deal of depth, solid but no world beater for me.
