Description
History: Giesinger started as a garage brewery in Munich-Birkenau in 2006. In 2007, 300 hectoliters of beer were produced and sold in Birkenau. In 2009 we already produced an impressive 750 hectoliters of beer in our small backyard brewery. When we finally reached the magic limit of 1,000 hectoliters for the first time in 2011, the premises in Birkenau were completely exhausted. A new location was needed and found in the neighbourhood of Munich-Giesing. The new brewery opened in 2012 and continued to grow, therefore a second facility was opened in 2018.

Suddenly "big" entrepreneur: Today we have 20 fermentation and storage tanks in our brewery. Giesinger became Munich's second largest private brewery almost overnight: With our current brewing plant, we can produce up to 12,000 hectoliters of beer per year, and after the opening of the second brewery even more.

330ml bottle. Slightly milky, orange, dark golden to amber colour with average, frothy to creamy, osteoporosing, minimally lacing, white head. Caramel malty and citrusy fruity, minimally dank and sweaty, hoppy aroma with quite some zesty aspects, notes of orange peel, some tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, a touch of almond, cheesy overtones. Taste is moderately bitter, citrusy, slightly zesty, fruity hoppy and caramel malty with some residual sweetness, hints of lemon, orange, lemon peel, orange peel, old grapefruit. Watery texture, dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Rather expressionless if not loveless, zesty and citrusy, but far from crisp, piney and classic West Coast IPA; don't know what ought be reconstructed here; >not as iconic as punk. Punkt.

Bottle drunk at Giesinger Braustüberl. Clear gold, moderate head. Light caramel nose with lots of pine and some mild citrus notes. Mouthfeel is rounded and smooth, maybe a tad soapy. Missing a bit of fruitiness compared to the original, seems pretty pine focused, but it's good as a West Coast Pale.

0.33 l bottle from 'Bierhandwerk', best before October 2024. A bit hazy, ruby with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish, fruity-resiny aroma of caramel, pine, red fruits and some tobacco. Gently sweet, malty, moderately bitter, quite fruity-resiny taste of caramel, grains, pine, red fruits and some tobacco, followed by a short, gently bitter, minimally roasty, dry finish. Medium to full body, smooth but fairly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Nice one!
