Dirk at the Kulminator told us that this bottle, brewed on October 29, 2001 and served on September 23, 2008 was the last bottle he had that was brewed at the old Beersel brewery, which is now a museum. I like to think it’s true. Dry and musty, typical wet horse-blanket aroma and acidic sour taste. Wonderfully complex. I hope the 3-F version ages this well.

(10/11/08) Bottle drank in my hostel room in Chicago. Clear red color with a quickly-diminishing pinkish off-white head. Aroma of raspberry juice, some sugary notes and a bit of barnyard. Sweetish-sourish flavor of raspberry, faint notes of sugar and a bit of brett. Medium-bodied. Not as good as their Kriek and Gueuze but still nice.

Bottle. Semi-hazy, yellow colour. Smells like sour candy banana. The flavor is kind of anonymous for being a geuze. It´s almost more sweet than sour.

Crystal clear golden coloured body with an orange glow and a very thin slightly off-white head. Nice look, albeit the head dies a bit too quickly. Aroma of lemons, sour grapes, hay, wheat, curacao, sugar and a bit of dry, tannic scent. Medium-bodied; Sharp bitter hay and farmhouse flavours up front with grass and a light tartness noticeable. Aftertaste shows oak and grass, along with some sugar and a decent amount of yeast - however, no strong sweet or tart flavours like most gueuze. Overall, a nice beer, although not as strong, sweet and tart as I’d expect. I ennjoyed this beer, but to be honest - I’d rather have most gueuze that you can find in a small grocery store in Bruxelles. I sampled this to celebrate my first marathon - yesterday on 26 October 2008. This beer was purchased as a ’split’ 37.5 cL bottle from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 12-July-2008, sampled on 27-October-2008.

2002 Vintage bottle courtesy of Indra. Pour is a hazed pink strawberry red, with a nice 1/2 inch pink white head. Aroma of tart, sour cherry and strawberries. Some sweetness to the cherries, really soft and natural nose, very engaging. Taste is string tart acidity, very forward in the taste. Beyond the sour tartness is some earthiness, though sour is the story. Really nice, aged out nicely. Palate is thin and brief. I loved the nose, taste a bit less. Thanks for sharing this one Eric!

37,5cl Bottle @ KBF in Geel. Deep pinkish red colour, pink head. Very nice aroma of cherries, marzipan, some tart. Flavour is very tart, slightly bitter underneath, cherries. Fullbodied and lots of carbonation. Too sour for me.

375 mL bottle, figured I’d see what this lambic thing was all about. Best by date April 2026. Pours bright red with a large pink-tinged head, active carbonation, and a couple fair-sized bits of sediment. Aroma is sour, tart cherry, strawberry, a little funky. Flavor is heavy sour cherry with hints of other red fruits like strawberry and raspberry. Tart cherry lingers quite strongly before disappearing. Well, it’s my first lambic, but the bold flavor has grown on me quite quickly.

12.7 fl oz / 375 ml corked and caged bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in Kansas City, Missouri. Best before 20-04-2026 very lightly imprinted on the label, not entirely sure its 2026 - this makes it ~2 years old. Opens with a very loud pop. Pour is a gorgeous hazed yellow golden with a perfectly formed two inch all white head. A few lively, very fine, carbonation bubbles are seen working their way to the top of the tulip. Aroma is quite full, spicy barnyard yeastiness, lemon citrus, sharp bleu cheese funkiness and general wet dirt. There is also a smoky pepper something going on. Taste is initially the sharp acidic sourness, very much lemons. Immediately following the citric blast is the dirt and earthiness, which is quite drying. The finish is quite lasting, and is very much focused on the wet dirt. Though I get quite a bit of black pepper spiciness. As the palate adjusts, the citrus melds quite nicely into the full package, though the beer does lose some of its sharpness. Palate is dry, with nice carbonation. Quite complex and drinkable - not a combination you find too often.
