Description
Our passion for never settling, and brewing quality, flavorful beers started with our founder, Jim Koch. He brewed the first batch of Boston Lager in his kitchen – a recipe that belonged to his great great grandfather that he found in his father’s attic back in the early 1980’s. The Boston Beer Company has grown through the years to become the fourth largest brewery in the United States.

Initially, Koch rented excess capacity and brewed the beer at the Pittsburgh Brewing Company. As sales increased Koch developed other contract arrangements at various brewing facilities with excess capacity. To reduce reliance on contract brewing Cincinnati's Hudepohl-Schoenling brewery was purchased in early 1997).

In 2007, the Boston Beer Company purchased the former F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company brewery in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. By 2012, the Company was producing two-thirds of all its beer at the Breinigsville facility, and it has increased brewing capacity there. The Boston Beer Company also has a small R&D brewery located in Boston (Jamaica Plain), Massachusetts, where public tours and beer tastings are offered.

Bottle
Amber color. Malt and caramel aroma. Dry, malty taste with a correct finish. Quite strong character, not bad for a widely available beer.

This brew seems to be drawing some consternation on the part of the ratebeer community. I like it. On the light side, with both artificial and natural cherry flavors, and slight wheat tang. Probably best served in grill-endowed regions. Not the most complex fruit offering, but tasty and refreshing, and sometimes that's a damn good thing.

Golden, clear body and a thin white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy (floral), but the flavor is muddled and bitter, finishing like a dry cracker. Not a very good pale.

Poured opaque brown, with a very slight but creamy tan head. Aroma is very similar to that of Mackeson XXX, with plenty of sweet malts and chocolate. Flavor is coffee with cream, chocolate, and roasted malts, with a nicely bitter hops finish. This is much better than I remember it being. Although not as full-bodied as many "micro" stouts, Sam Adams has done a fine job with the Cream Stout, and, if it is no longer being produced as has been rumored, this ale will be missed.

Reddish brown and bubbly. This has a sharp alcohol taste that is overshadowed(read: rescued) by a slight sweet roasty flavor I cant put my finger on. It is ok as far as oktoberfests go. Not very fresh, eh whatever.

The aroma is dominated by brewmash with notes of sweet malt. The color is orange and it has a beutiful head. The flavor is a nice malt sweetness with notes of oranges, and a slight bitterness - too slight for my liking. An OK lager but boring for a Sam Adams.

On draught at the Uno near Tuttle Mall in Dublin, OH as Uno Amber. Came in an unfrosted glass which was a nice surprise. Pours a deep amber color with a medium thick light beige head. Aroma is lightly sweet caramel malt. On the lighter side body-wise with a malty and earthy flavor. Finish is lightly hopped and just a tiny bit metallic. A lot better than I was expecting but not something I wish I could take home or anything.

Nice aroma and fine color, decent albeit short-lived head . Perfect bitterness, probably the best non-English English Pale Ale I have had.

Very cloudy yellow/golden colour with orange highlights and a thin white head. Very potent medicinal aroma with a slight lemon & malt essence. Light-bodied; Strong sharp flavour with some lemon highlights and a sweet background. Aftertaste shows a light sweetness and a very shallow level of wheat. Overall, decent, not bad for the style at all! I bought this twelve ounce beer at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on 2-October-2003.

Not a bad ale, but quite uneventful. Copper, with nice head, decent lacing - slight hops and malts - minor sweetness - easy drinking, with a subtle yeastiness. Not bad, I guess.

Draught
Golden color, poor head, served in an icy glass (sic!). Poor aroma and flavor, have to wait a lot to find a light note of malt. And the final as well is not interesting.
