Description
Our passion for never settling, and brewing quality, flavorful beers started with our founder, Jim Koch. He brewed the first batch of Boston Lager in his kitchen – a recipe that belonged to his great great grandfather that he found in his father’s attic back in the early 1980’s. The Boston Beer Company has grown through the years to become the fourth largest brewery in the United States.

Initially, Koch rented excess capacity and brewed the beer at the Pittsburgh Brewing Company. As sales increased Koch developed other contract arrangements at various brewing facilities with excess capacity. To reduce reliance on contract brewing Cincinnati's Hudepohl-Schoenling brewery was purchased in early 1997).

In 2007, the Boston Beer Company purchased the former F. & M. Schaefer Brewing Company brewery in Breinigsville, Pennsylvania. By 2012, the Company was producing two-thirds of all its beer at the Breinigsville facility, and it has increased brewing capacity there. The Boston Beer Company also has a small R&D brewery located in Boston (Jamaica Plain), Massachusetts, where public tours and beer tastings are offered.

An unclear orang beer with a beutiful head. The aroma is very sweet - with non of the sourness that German hefeweizen usually have. The flavor is sweet, wheaty and malty - and no bitterness. All in all an OK German hefeweizen - but a boring example on my tastebuds.

Light amber in colour with a thin white head. Smells of wheat, coriander, curacao and cloves. Medium to Light-bodied; Decent wheat, curacao flavours with some subtle spiceyness. Aftertaste showing a bit of the wheatiness and a tiny bit of spiceyness. Overall, a decent beer, definately not true to the style though! I got a sample of this twelve ounce bottle purchased at Green's Beverages in Atlanta, Georgia by Haddon90 on 27-September-2003, thanks Phil!

Dark copper, like exotic honey, no head. Infinitely complex nose, with spikes of nuts, dried apples, plums, earthy. Taste is like a heavy, velvety rare liqueur based on exquisite brandy, fruits (plums again), all the esters, and - remarkably - maple syrup. Overfull body, immmensely warming, and amazingly velvety mouthfeel. This is truly superb and unique. It cut through a series of abbey-ales as a Cru Classé Pauillac through some Médoc villages.

(draught)Orange-light amber; very little white head. Fresh hops nose, not realy noble, but OK. Bitter-hoppy with adequate malt-sweetness underneath, cookie-like, not cloying. Slight citrussy finish. Light to medium bodied, no particular aftertaste; served too American cold. An OK beer, better than feared, less than hoped for.

Bottled. Muddy pale orange. Big banana aroma. Sweet and yeasty with rounded mouthfeel. Stylish and authentic.

Bottled. Golden colour, hazy. Fruity crystal malt aroma. Sweet, clean and mild with a light touch of orange peels.

I don't really know how to rate this since i have nothing else to rate it against. Very heavy brown pours out of the bottle and the first whif is alchohol. Drinks heavy and has a bite to it. This is deffinatly for sipping slow! Molasses look with a vanilla flavor is the best to describe it. This beer, if you can call it beer, is the port of beers. I could not finish it. There are so many people that rate this as the highest beer on the market but i did not get the hype. Maybe i will try it again sometime..

Pours amber, with a thin off-white head. Aroma is a bit on the hoppy side for an Oktoberfest. The body is also a bit light, with toasted notes and caramel flavors becoming more pronounced at warmer temperatures. Also has a hoppy, grassy flavor to it. This is pumpkin rind compared to the freshly roasted seeds of Paulaner. Time for a fresh Ichabod from New Holland?

Bottled. Reddish brown. Buttery caramel aroma. Roasty with clean crystal malt character. Not even remotely similar to an oktoberfest beer. After a promising nose it just dies.
