Description
Two guys born and raised in Croydon met shortly before the London riots in 2011 at a beer festival, and found they both were having thoughts about starting up a new brewery in the area. After nearly a year of test brewing,
planning and trying to find financial backing, The Cronx Brewery was formed in 2012.

In 2016 the Cronx Bar was opened in Boxpark Croydon. Run by a great team, the bar always has a wide selection of real ales and craft beers available.

‘The Cronx’ is a portmanteau of Croydon (Or it’s postcode; CR0) and The Bronx, and has been used as an affectionate tongue in cheek reference to the often much maligned London Borough we call home.

Closed in 2024. In 2925 the brewery site and equipment taken over by Titsey Brewery to use as a 2nd location. Subsequent Cronx beers startes to be brewed again.

Pours a hazy dark brown colour with a small foamy tan head. An earthy malt and tangh coffee ground aroma. Flavour is a dryish earthy sweetness, some coffee grounds, with a metallic taste in the finish. Not great.

Cask at Cronx. It pours hazy dark brown with a foamy tan head. The aroma is earthy, toasty, roasted.malt, voffee grounds and cacao. The taste is soft, dry, sweetish, toasty grain, coffee grounds, dark fruits, cola, hint of tang and a touch of tannin with a dry finish. Light+ body and soft carbonation. Aroma is decent enough, but the taste doesn't quite deliver. Has a bit of tangy dark fruit about it. Overall it's ok.

Keg at the West End Brewery, Leicester. Gold, cloudy with a small whitish film of head. Aroma is surprisingly low, perhaps due to the low temperature. Once it warms up a bit I get pineapple and other tropical fruits alongside some light white pepper. Tastes is bittersweet, with a lovely melony hop note. Finishes crisply bitter but the balance is gorgeous. An incredibly tasty pale ale.

Lots of lemon; very herbal, almost like a lemon sherbet candy
