In 1728, Aspall was founded by Clement Chevallier in the parish of Aspall, Suffolk. While all around him were growing cereals, he chose to plant apple trees. Almost 300 years on, we’re still going against the grain, making remarkable cyder & cyder vinegars at the original Aspall Cyder House.

500ml bottle. Clear very pale yellow with a green tint, very little carbonation looks almost still. Very fresh apples, dry and slightly sweet, soft carbonation.

500ml bottle, 6.8%. Clear golden. Fresh apples, mildly sweet,didn't seem that earthy to me despite the description, on the dry side. Light bodied, steady carbonation. Ok but not really much to it.

Bottle at home. Clear light blond colour, not much head. Aroma is bit weird, bread, touch of apples, quite boozy. Taste is similar, apple and booze, bit of minerals, bit of plastic. Spritzy. Draft: Poured a yellow with nice thin carbonated white head. Aroma was nice apples. Taste is sweet apple light tang keeps it balanced on the tongue.

Keg at the Spade Oak, Bourne End, Bucks. Orange-red in hue, negligible fizz. Light taste of fresh strawberries and a little raspberry leaf. Hint of something herbal. Vinegary note. Dry finish. Unlike others in the style it's not too sweet. However it is rather watery and bland. Not great.

On tap at Little Island, pours a cloudy yellowish blonde with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of apple core, with pulp and some sweet apple juice. Flavour is drier than expected, with apple juice, some apple core, and a little pulp. Obviously not a premier English cider, but for a macro cider, you could do a lot worse.

On keg at the Maltsters Arms, Tuckenhay, Devon. Appearance - golden yellow. Temporary lacing. Nose - sweet apple juice, pure and simple. Taste - ripe but elegant apple, very uncomplicated. Palate - light to medium bodied with a tangy and refreshing middle and finish. Overall - very nice.

500ml bottle, thanks to Gary for sharing. Clear late straw coloured body. Bare naked at the top, dotted spots on the glassware. Aroma of apple skins. Rather fresh taste of apples, sweet and semi-tart. Prolonged ending. Fine depth. Quite alright. (Kirkley, Lowestoft 07.07.2019).
