Hazy dark amber beer. Little white head. lactose nose. Softish palate. Semi sweet lacto malt. Sweet toffee caramel. A little sweet orange and aniseed. Pepper at the smooth end. Might be sweet for some - not me! Nice beer!

Bomber from Wine Warehouse, Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark brown color with a medium sized tan head. Good head retention. Aroma of big chocolate notes, mocha, roasted malts, vanilla, faint fruits and a dusty note. The taste is berries, chocolate, roasted malts, cocoa and mild hops. Medium-full bodied. Decent.

On cask at Meridian Pint. Pours a murky, translucent, deep brown with one ring of off white head. Nose is neat, tons of raspberry, dark chocolate, light coffee, licorice. Very sweet flavor, tastes like a raspberry fudge sunday, all raspberry jam, dark and milk chocolate, vanilla, light wood. Full bodied, sweet finish.

Charred pork, smoke aroma. Chocolate? No. Black pour with a thick beige head. Flavor is smoke and, baker’s chocolate. Ah, there it is. Umami and almost salty, but lightly bitter, not sweet at all. Alcohol not noticeable, medium body, easy carbonation. A lot of seemingly different flavors and aromas coming together in a harmonious blend. Wow, good stuff.

Apple, banana, currant, and fig nose, not strong. Cloudy rust, thin head. Full body, viscous.Syrupy sweet flavor of cherries, currants, dates, and peaches. Finishes warm with southern comfort and apple cores. Curious beer with intriguing complexities. I really want to like it, but the sweetness is beyond the pale.

Sample at the Central OH BA Tasting at From The Vine on 06/02/2012: This aptly-named beer is a dark reddish-amber color with a minimal white head that dissipates quickly to an outer ring. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of honey, dark fruit and malt. Tastes somewhere between and Mead and Port Wine if that is possible. The finish is syrupy and fruity. Interesting to say the least, and a nice sipper.

ChrisOs Kook Tasting. Slightly hazy dark amber beer. Light nose of sweet malt. Low carbonation. Semi soft and semi dry palate. Sweet malt and fruits. Subtle spicy cherry and strawberry. Dried fruits and subtle raisin. Mild caramel and then inevitable aniseed alcohol that is also quite sweet. Finishes a little warming but nothing like 22%!!. Sweet, strong and of surprisingly subtle flavours. Very dangerously drinkable!

22oz bomber via trade with ksurkin over a year ago. Thanks Ken. It pours deep gold with copper core and dirty white head of foam. The aroma is sugary sweet with faint muted spicy to pine hops and a touch of light skinned fruity esters. The taste is smooth with malts and silky smooth wheat notes backed up by muted smooth pine hops and a sense of spicy hops. This is nice and smooth and almost candy sweet at times but not too sweet and lacks any of the estery banana like notes associated with some wheat beers. This one has aged wonderfully and shows no sign of going down hill.
