Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Muddy blond color with creamy head. Mild aroma of paper, cereals, hop and manure. Lean mouthfeel, smooth but rather dry, with no special flavor, strong bitterness, light fruity component.
Nothing exciting.

On tap at Garage 39. Light copper color, medium body. Piney nose but resin, pine, grassy, subtle hoppy goodness in terms of taste. Well done.

Tap at Marciero. Fruity, resinous aroma, some caramel, rich stone fruits. Deep amber color with a fine, lacy head. Nice enough flavor, cherry, muscat, peach, plum, pine, a bit of chocolate. Full. Ok, but not enough flavor for the strength, and a bit too thick. Very old school.

Bottle: Pours orange amber with a mountain of beige head. Terrific retention and lacing. Some florals and caramel in the nose, resin and citrus. Pungent. Flavors come together seamlessly and it doesn’t take long to forget about descriptors… this is a star. Enjoyed immensely and for $3.79/bomber it’s arguably the best IPA for your dollar in the 22oz format.

Bottle: Light brown color with a modest beige head. Nose is malty at first, a little roast and chocolate. Some floral hops and a sweet tone. Light spices, but more malt forward with an emphasis on sweet. Same goes for the taste, but I’m picking up a separation of flavors… I can really tell where the chocolate malt ends and the 2-row begins… roasty, dark fruit, and faint spice. I’m confused… reminds me of the first time I tried Jubelale (9 or 10 years ago) so maybe I’ll come to like this over time.

Muddy blond color with compact head. Solid beer, malt flavor with a light spicy yeast character, strong bitterness, and good Simcoe. A nice IPA for a meal, although I had fresher and fruitier beers in this category.

On tap at St. Augustine's, pours a pretty clear dark amber with a small beige head. Aroma of light spices, some fruitiness and bready notes. Flavour is cloyingly sweet, with loads of residual sugar, light spices, an syrupy malt. Way too sweet, but drinkable enough in small amounts. Okay.

On tap at Craft Beer Market Vancouver, pours a murky brown with a small beige head. Aroma of toasted nuts, a little coffee and slight cocoa. Flavour brings out toasted hazelnuts, a little coffee and slight cocoa. Quite flavourful and really well-balanced. Much better than the average rating would suggest. Good stuff.

Bottle from Total Wine, Bellevue, Seattle, WA, USA. A golden/amber coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Hoppy, malty, pine, citrus fruit aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, malty, citrus, pine, slightly bitter finish. Decent IPA from the Pacific Northwest.
