Light haze on this amber beer, tidy white head. Light crisp palate. A little caramel in the malt which is a decent backbone for the hops. Pine, grass and citrus. A little minerals. Finishes neutral and with mild bitterness. Very agreeable.

Crisp, slightly hazy copper coloured body with a thin, one centimetre tall off-white head with a nice amber glow - very nice looking and perfect for the style. Aroma of pale malt, nice fresh and light (perhaps German) hops with a bit of a lemony freshness and a hint of caramelised sugars at the end. Light-bodied; Sharp metallic malty notes at first with a good dose of light hops in the mix, some lemons and citrus, a bit of caramel and a light grassy and nuttiness to finish it off. Aftertaste shows a good malty kick, but little else, however - it is very muted and doesn’t show any offensive bitterness or alcohol warmth at the end. Overall, a nice beer for the style - light and crisp with the maltiness hitting home first. Good to sample to get a good representation of the style and great if you like this style a lot! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Total Wine in McLean, Virginia on 07-November-2012 for US$3.99 sampled at home in Washington after returning from Washington State earlier in the day on 12-January-2013.

On tap. Pour amber with light head. Aromas of malt and pine. Flavors of grapefruit, pine, and fruity malts. Not a bad IPA. Quite drinkable but nothing to differentiate from many others.

Take a look at this one’s rates, it has sour/infection issues. That said, it isn’t so horrendous if you are unaware of such things. Unfiltered red--orange body. Monstrous steady infected head. I gave up after a few sips. Just off, very disappointing.

Draught at St. Augustine’s, Vancouver
Dark amber color, with medium sized creamy head. Mild aroma of caramel. Caramel flavor, with a good body strength, moderate sweetness, not really spicy; but the bitterness is too strong in the final, almost disturbing.

Tap at Norm’s Eatery and Alehouse, Seattle - 08/11/12. Chestnut brown with a thin off white head that clears to the edge and forms a pond. Nose is caramel malts, toffee, dark fruit tones. Tastes of toffee, touch of harsh and not particularly well integrated booze, paint. Medium bodied with bite, soft carbonation, bitter harsh finish. Drinkable, but below par!
