Entered to celebrate my rating number 13,600. Handbottled. Thanks to the whole bunch that made it possible for me to taste this beer: Will Meyers, Anders Kissmeyer, Rasmus, and Kasper Larsen.
A hazy deep red beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has strong notes of smoke as well as notes of caramel, bacon, and beech wood - lovely. The flavor is sweet malty with strong notes of smoke from beech wood, as well as notes of bacon, and tar, leading to a dry smokey finish.

75 cL handbottled, thanks Will Meyers, Anders Kissmeyer, Rasmus from Ørsted Ølbar for bringing this to Denmark and Kasper from Nørrebro Bryghus to provide this, thanks to Ungstrup for sharing. Pours cloudy dark orange with a small white head. Solid smoked and vague butterish aroma. Smooth meady smoked flavoured. Nice mellow wooden smoked flavoured with a light sweetness and medium body. Lingering smooth smoked flavour. I lack the solid tar-ish notes from the original Danish style of this, these flavours are a bit too subdued for my liking.

12oz bottle with a Mayflower cap–pours a foamy to rocky white head and hazy yellow/gold color. Aroma is orange zest/lemon, some spice, light malt. Taste is orange zest/lemon, some spice, light malt, alcohol bite. Has an I2PA syrupy mouth feel that changes to dry at the finish. Caramel and biscuit as it gets to cellar temperature.

Many many many thanks to EDA for bringing a bottle of this to Peter’s NY gathering - it came in a fancy box and everything! - hazy golden pour - the nose explodes with lemongrass, grapefruit, orange rind, pine - the flavor is a lovely mixture of herbs, citrus, grass, hay, etc. - no real detectable belgian character here, so I question the style distinction - quite dry, and extremely bitter - delicious, no matter what it’s supposed to be.
