(Gravicask at GBBF, London Earl’s Court, 6 Aug 2009) Dark brown colour, almost black. Brief, beige head. Roasted, malty nose with notes of coffee and chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with coffee, dark chocolate, toffee, a touch of liquorice and citrussy hops in the finish. More than medium body, fairly sweet. Very nice and tasty porter.

One-third pint, draught, 10.5% abv. Shiny black surface with a deep, pitch black body. Aroma of smoked malts with hints of vanilla oak. Very pleasant taste of mid-sweet plums, prunes, coffee and anise overlaid by a touch of dark spices. Vinous texture. Modest alcohol heating. Delicious mouthfeel and a very nice sipper. In fact, this one turned out to be one of my best bite at the GBBF (London, 04.08.2009).

On tap. Hazy golden with an off-white head. Fruity, Bretty nose. Medium body, dry and lightly citrusy with very dry Brett accents. Very little Belgian inspiration to be found here. 110709

Cask@GBBF 2009. Dark, almost opaque brown color, small steady tan head. Black coffee and licorice in the nose. Lots of black coffee, licorice and dark malts. Very enjoyable with long lingering roastyness in the aftertaste. Dry and balanced. (8/4/8/4/16 4.0)
Re-rate, Tap @brewpub
Dark brown color, small beige head. Chocolaty, caramelly aroma. Medium-bodied. Coffee, chocolate, light toasted bitterness in the finish. Clean - maybe too clean, uninspiring. (7/4/6/2/11 3.0)

Cask@GBBF2009. Pitch black colour, not much head. Aroma is sweet liquorice, alcohol, nuts, old coffee and also some toasted notes. Flavour is much the same along with raisins and plum. Flavour is also quite alcoholic burning in the finish.
