A golden kolsch with a thin white head. In aroma, a nice fresh grain malt with light herbal hops. In mouth, a nice lightly sweet malt with fresh mash, light berries, not bad, refershing. On tap at brewpub, Dec. 28 2009.

Cask @ GBBF 2009. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty bourbo and vanilla flavor with hints of chocolate. Roasted malty woody bourbon flavor with hints of chocolate. Has a warming malty chocolate finish with hints of bourbon in the aftertaste.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, sweet malt, moderate smoked, wood, moderate to heavy caramel - toffee. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. (Draught at BAβs BBFβ09) Poured golden and hazy with small white head. Mostly peppery aroma. Medium bodied and burning palate with medium carbonation. Flavours were fruitiness, pepper, bitterness, spices and hops. Peppers and fruitiness in aftertaste.

Cask at GBBF 2009. Black, dark brown edges, thin lasting dark beige head. Good choc aroma, very dry bitter dark choc in mouth. Quite fruity in swallow, some raison and dark cherry, bit of ginger. Good/solid.

At GBBF 2009. Too strong. Lots of intense roasted malt, quite harsh in the mouth, bit stinging. Settles down into a decent impy stout, but still a bit harsh on the alcohol.

Cask at GBBF. Black with a tiny tan head. Chocolate and caramel aroma with strong bourbon. Sweet caramel flavour with big bourbon and oak. But overall, too sweet.
