Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice light brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light vanilla and lactose with notes of roasted malt. Taste is also a nice mix between some lactose heavy roasted malt with light touch of vanilla, bourbon is not a key player for this beer. Body is quite full with creamy body and medium carbonation. Very well brewed and something I would love to have again thought bourbon could have been a bit more pronounced.

i try to be as objectional about english ipa’s as possible, and most american english-style ipa’s are really good up front, its the second half of the pint that gets a little annoying. once your palate gets used to the hops, its the malts that start to get that sickly sweet, almost nutrisweet flavor that is in no way appetizing or satisfying, it just tastes artificial.

22 oz bottle bought at brew pub. Light amber, somewhat translucent. Lightly carbonated. Nice small off-white head. Nose of malt and yeast. Taste of roasted grain, and a VERY light hop finish. A nice creamy mouthfeel that makes it easy to drink. Nothing complex but a nice lighter beer to enjoy if you don’t want something heavy. I would drink again.

On draft at brewpub in Gorham, ME. Color was caramel brown with a thin white head that left nice lacing. Aroma was of piney hops. Taste mirrors the aroma. However there was no hop bitterness which made it smooth to drink. I would drink again and was surprised on how flavorful it was.

I enjoyed on draft @ the Barley Pub ! Served in a snifter. Dark brown with a thin bit of beige head. Held to the light you can see a red hue around the edges. The lacing was thick. Aroma of dark chocolate, some coffee, perhaps a trace of molasses. Mouthfeel smooth but a bit thin and sticky on the back end.Flavor is complex. Up front you get a roasted malt taste. Plus you can get the alcohol. I get a maple syrup flavor in the middle of the sip; the finish has a light non- bitter hop finish. I really enjoyed this brew.

Nice slightly cloudy orange/copper coloured body with a dense, thick tan head that leaves a pretty ugly lace. Aroma of fresh grassy and piney hops with a touch of grapefruit, pineapple and resin. Medium-bodied; Assertive piney and floral hoppiness with some light malt to support and a touch of light apricot sweetness, but mostly an unabashed hoppiness - which is okay. Aftertaste is mild, only some light bitterness shows through - fairly one-dimensional. Overall, a decent IPA, not great, but showing some good hoppy notes and a touch of other character. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Colonial Spirits in Acton, Massachusetts on 23-September-2010, sampled at home in Washington on 30-November-2010.

Light golden color. Almost no head to speak of. Very light malt aroma. Crisp light taste with notes of malt. Had a grain type finish. Not much flavor. Not bad but no real good either. It’s a good starter beer early in the night.
