Description
We are multi award winning artisan cider and perry makers.
We make whole juice draught and bottled ciders and perry using locally grown apples and pears.
Since 1956 we have been making cider at our family home and now cider mill. Set within 4 acres of heritage orchards and established gardens, we are situated on the banks of the River Severn in Awre, the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire.
We are continuing to plant cider apple and perry pear trees at our new orchards in Blakeney, home of the famous Blakeney Red Perry pear.

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Deep golden in colour with on carbonation. Baked apple aroma of spices, demerara sugar and sweet apples. Flavour also started sweet, before an earthy edge and slightly tart finish. Great stuff.

500ml bottle. Looks like any other golden cider with just a faint hint of a white head that disappears immediate. Aroma of sour apples and wood. Nice, dry flavor, almost sour with both sour apples and ripe apples and a clear hint of wood. Easy and refreshing to drink with a nice flavor of apples and no sticky sugar drink. IMO this is what a cider is all about.

500 ml brown bottle, now available in Norway at Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.3%. Pours very fizzy with a moderate white head that soon disappears. Golden colour. Moderate aroma of cider apples and oak. The flavour is very dry and tart, astringent finish. Notes of cider apples of course, hints of oak. Noticeable acidity with a hint of lemons. I can imagine this cider would go well with a dish of fat fish (salmon, trout, mackerel etc.) - on its own it is nearly too astringent for me.

Bottle. Surprisingly, it’s available at Vinmonopolet. It looks quite nice in the glass, with a little carbonation in the golden colored body. No head, didn’t expect any either. The aroma promises a dry cider, it’s slightly sourish with lots of ripe apples, autumn afternoon air in the fields, and a little something woody. Dry, puckering mouthfeel with apples doing the flavor job. Tannin-rich finish with apples and a lemony hint. Some wood dropping in too. Sure not bad, but maybe a bit one-dimensional or something, can’t really pin what it is. Had no problems finishing the bottle though. (090711)

500ml bottle bought at Corks, Bristol as ’dry still perry’ at 6.4% ABV. Pale, slightly hazy, yellow in colour, with almost no carbonation. Tart, spicy aroma, with some fruit in the background. Complex flavour, with some pear fruit, tartness, wood and even a hint of vinegar, as mentioned below. Rather surprisingly, the finish was rather mellow with pears to the fore. Good stuff.

500ml bottle bought at Corks, Bristol. Pale gold in colour. Poured clear with moderate carbonation. Aroma of apple juice, with some tannins. Flavour began with more apple fruit before the dryness kicked in, providing some balance and character and leading to a mouth puckering finish. Good and a lot better than the medium cider from the same producer I tried immediately before.

500ml bottle bought at Corks, Bristol. This was the medium sparkling cider, which has an ABV of 6.3%. Lively pour with plenty of fizz and a short lived white head. Pale gold in colour. Light apple juice aroma with some tartness. Easy drinking, with the apples to the fore and a touch of dryness in the finish. Ok.

Plastic cask at GBBF08. Weak citric aroma. Hazy very pale yellow. The flavour is OK, slightly acidic, but not rough at all. Tastes like cider.

Barrel at GBBF 2007. A light yellow perry with no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of pears. The flavor has strong notes of pears as well as light notes of wood, on a slightly acidic back ground, leading to a medium dry finish. The body is a bit watery - surprisingly considering the 6.4% ABV.
