Bottle. I've had a few Co-Op / Robinsons beers and they are usually disappointing. This one however is a very good bitter in my view. Not sure if it's been filtered but the flavours coming through are tasty and balanced. Look: Clear copper to orange brown with decent off-white head. Nose: Sweet malts, caramel, lemon, berries in aroma; inviting. Taste: is quite sweet with malts, caramel, hint of toffee, marmalade, fruit cake, light spice. Palate: Good body for a best bitter - light to medium, smooth, soft to prickly carbonation

Cloudy pale yellow, very brief fizz; looks a bit lifeless. Aroma of tart apple juice, quite pithy, light leather, some sweet sugars. Taste of medium cider, semi-drying at start with apple pith and skin notes finishing semi-sweet with a light spice tingle. Near medium bodied, low to medium carbonation but enough to get flavours around the palate. Tasty and better than I was expecting.

Bottle from my local Co-Op. Surprisingly hoppy and tasty for a Robinsons beer slightly let down by glucose syrup addition. Look: Clear amber with foamy off-white head. Filtered but nice lacing. Nose: Malty sweetish aroma with a touch of caramel and bread along with a herbs, grass, slight aniseed note. Taste: malts and herbal hops dominate but there are spicy notes, hint of citrus peel, quite bitter. Palate: Smooth mouthfeel with a fine carbonation slightly let down by a modest cloyingness but then I note one of the ingredients is glucose syrup.

500ml bottle. Look - clear gold, fairly thin head. Basic. Nose - typical old style pale aroma of stale citrus and biscuit malts. Taste - very biscuity, floral, grassy, a light old fruity hop. Palate - light but not watery, nice zing on the carbonation. A good refreshing quality. Perfectly drinkable but a fairly stale affair in comparison to the modern beer world. How long can the likes of Robinson's and Marston's churn this stuff out? When will supermarkets pull the plug?

Bottle which pours a clear amber brown, small off white head. Aroma of malts with rye, caramel, blackcurrant and spice, decent retention.. Taste is the same, a nice caramel malt with a rye edge, hops do a decent job bringing blackcurrant and general fruitiness to the beer, Slightly vague grassy tangy finish. Light bodied, moderate carbonation. Quite good.

Bottle from Cooperative Supermarket, Hebden Bridge. Clear pale yellow-gold with a light carbonation. It's coconut is dominant in both aroma and taste, but its sweetened pineapple is also evident in both aspects.

Creamy tan head stayed on a dark brown body. Dark coffee, roasted & chocolate aroma. Medium to full, smooth & creamy thinning out to a clean back. Coffee, dark chocolate, malt, roasted & caramel tastes with lightly hopped extremely bitter finish. Delish.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the local Co-Op. Pours clear, rich brown with a foamy, tan head. Medium sweet flavour with creamy dark malts, smooth coffee and chocolate notes, low bitterness, maple accents, a little brown sugar. Light bodied with average carbonation and velvety texture. Pretty well balanced finish, more sweet than bitter, rounded dark malts. Easy drinking.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from the local Co-Op. Pours clear copper-gold, effervescent, with a tight, frothy off-white topping. Light sweet flavour with nice dried pine, leafy hops, sun-baked malts, orange peel, British yeast. Light bodied with average carbonation. Fairly clean finish, baked grains, citrus peel, dirty grass. Not bad.

Random store in London, bottle. Clear amber golden, medium nonlasting white head. Mild peachy nose, not much in there. Medium bitterness, very herbal. Not too nice. Lasting aftertaste. Light.
