Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol 3/11/09. Chestnut in colour with a slight, off-white head. Aroma of doughy malts, red fruit and a whiff of marmite. Flavour had plenty of sweetish malts, a bready edge and very bitter finish. Not wonderful.

April 2008. Gold ale with a tangy hop fruit flavour. Hoppy dry and sour finish.

Brown with a small off-white head. Aroma of caramel, dried fruit, chocolate and a touch of vineous alcohol. Sweet roasted flavour, mostly chocolate, with a fruity touch.

30th March 2008 Dark ale - hides the alcohol well. Smooth and a good balance of malt and hops but not overly in your face.

From cask at Duke of wellington. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is mild hoppy and fruity. Bitter and light malty base flavoured. Light cornish flavoured into a bitter and dry finish.

Cask, full pint, cellar cold at The Flying Horse, Gatwick. Slightly unclear golden-amber body. Tiny, white head reduced to a patchy surface. Malt-fruity smell. Some apricot mixed with grain in flavour. Too few hints of hop bitterness to the ending. Alright, but not in prime shape at the pub. In fact, rather vapid in the mouth (waiting for hours at the airport for a new plane, 08.08.2009).

Cask, handpump at The Penny Black, JDW, Bicester, Oxon, 04-09-09 Pours more amber than a silvery gold colour that I was expecting, white bubbly head sits atop. Both the aroma and flavours are quite rustic and earthy, a little old fashioned and nothing like I was anticipating. There is a reasonable bitterness, its a touch dry, bit of chewy caramel, its ok. Cask at Stanmore Spoons. Pale gold pour with small head. Fruity aroma. Fruity, malty, slightly hoppy taste. What a lousy beer this is.

Cask@GBBF. Deep amber color, small off-white head. Nutty, grassy aroma. Medium-bodied. Sticky glueish-nutty and malty flavor. A bit sweet. Tasty.
