Cask handpull, County Hotel, JDW, Ashford. Copper colour with thin off white head. Earthy resinous hop aroma. Light in mouth, excellent biting bitterness with tasty hops on then end. Excellent session bitter.

Cask, Penny Black, JDW, Bicester 17-01-06. Amber in colour, some hops on the nose, clean and quite refreshing some bitterness on the finish. Could happily have a few, but nothing out of the ordinary

[Cask at GBBF 2005] A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted, and so is the flavor, but here notes of coffee mixes in.

(Bottle 50 cl) Beautiful, deep amber with a dense, frothy head. Unusual heavy carbonation from the bottle conditioning and a huge sediment. Very spicy and slightly tart beer with a short but marked bitterness. I don’t get much of a malty sensation, but somehow this is more subtle and refined than your standard Bitter. 210201

A red beer with a disappearing beige head. The aroma is sweet with notes of berries as well as hints of roasted malt - the aroma is a little too faint for my liking. The flavor is sweet and nicely malty as well as roasted and with hints of berries. The roasted malt gives it a dry end.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very dark amber coming close to chestnut, very unclear with lots of impurities. Small light brown head.. Rather low in carbonation. Vinous, port-like nose and a surprising tartness that actually reminds me of Flemish sour ale. Very aromatic and complex with some late bitterness. 270104

An amber beer with an OK, but disappearing white head. The aroma is weird with spices and hop notes, doesn’t the weirdness come from the Progress hops? The flavor is very hoppy and very weird with a dry end. I wonder if it is the Progress hops, that makes this beer weird?

Amber, clear body. off-white rocky head, fully diminishing, fairly lacing. Hoppy and yeasty (spicy) flavour. Ligtly bitter initial flavour, moderately bitter finish. Long finish.
