A well-kept half pint at The Gunmarkers in Clerkenwell. Low fawn-coloured head, some of it remaining. Deep dark ruby body colour. Roasted malts on the nose with moments of dark chocolate. Mixed taste of brown and black malts added by resinous hops. Roasted ending. Medium bodied. Nice (London 23.09.2014).

Half pint in fine condition at The Gunmakers. Patchy white head to a pale golden body, slightly hazy. Spotty lacing. Moderate aromas of grassy hops. Refreshing flavour profile of bitter hops offset by mild malty sweetness. Drying hops on the swallow. Fine drinkability matching the pub food (London 23.09.2014).

Half, cask ale at Gunmakers. Near-clear amber, bubbly ring to the rim of the glass. Mild leafy hops on the nose. Caramel and leafy hoppy flavours, slightly jam-like. Good bittersweet support. Rounded and dry on the swallow. Easy to drink (London, 23.09.2014).

Cask at the Hare and Billet, Blackheath. Jonquil coloured pour with a white head. Aromas of bitter citrus and a modicum of sulphur. Bitter fruit and stewed veg flavour. Bitter finish.

50cl bottle from Morrisons, Bracknell. Amber with a white head; fruity orange aroma; fruity orange taste with a rather thin body; and some weak grassy hops and caramel to finish. A reasonable bitter.

Cask at the Sussex Arms, Twickenham Green, 12/09/14. Clear golden with a moderate off white covering. Nose is tangy citrics, melon, peach, bread dough, vanilla. Taste comprises light citrics, faint butterscotch, vanilla, straw. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. Medicore GB. Did Quins reall lose 0-39 to the Saffers - shit the bastard bed!

Cask at Willow Walk, JDW - London. Pours clear yellow with a frothy, white head. The nose is grainy white bread, dough and faint lemon. Light sweet flavor with astringent grains, hay, some lemon rind and sugary biscuits. Light in body with fine carbonation. Finishes lightly sugary with more bitter grain husk, grass and hay. Meh.
