Bottle. Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Yellow colour. Light malty and hoppy aroma. Light bitter flavor. Average light bitter finish. Oily palate.

Given to me in a pack of three ’rude named’ beers for Christmas by a friend of my wife. Brought this one to share with others on 20th March 2017 at Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Clear and clean golden body, white head. Light floral and caramel nose, fairly sweet taste wise, the finish turning slightly metallic. Difficult to score because it seemed to change direction mid-gulp.

500ml bottle @ monthly tasting, Chez Sophie. Pours clear gold, thin white head. Nose is surprisingly not bad, moderately sweet with some lemon curd, sweet malts. Taste continues with the sweetness, some floral citrus finishing with a lightly metallic edge. I feel annoyed that I don’t hate this.

First beer of Christmas Day 2016. 500ml bottle: BB Aug 2017, shared with my son at home. Wispy white head on a light golden/blonde body. Piney hops rule the aroma and taste of this hop centric, bitter ale. Very little malt action, but a pleasant enough start to a mini-session that continued into a larger tasting event as the evening progressed.

500ml bottle: BBD Oct 2017 (part of a three bottle gift of different beers): poured into an Abbot Ale glass tankard at home on 22nd Dec 2016. Light amber/orange colour, clean. clear and bright: the head was white but soon just a wisp and collar. Caramel notes just about rule the nose and taste with barley sugar being a close contender: there is also a bitterness that tries to level out the sweetness (fails but tries). Gimmick Christmas beer really, treated as such it’s not a problem, but do not expect a classic or world beater of a beer tp come out of the bottle. my sweet tooth almost liked it!

50cl bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - golden with a quickly disappearing head. Nose - honey, possibly going into toffee and malt. Taste - light honey, but really just the sweetness, none of the flowers that the bees may have collected pollen from. More sweet malt. Palate - light to medium bodied, the middle disappears and then you’re left with a sweet finish. Overall - not their worst beer.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark amber to toffee in colour. Decent head. Nose - burnt toffee, maybe liquorice or even chocolate. Taste - more burnt toffee and again a nod to chocolate or even coffee. Palate - close to medium bodied, there’s a good crunchy but sweet texture. Overall - similar but slightly better than the Misery Guts.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark amber in colour with a decent head. Nose - toffee, in fact burnt toffee, with a hint of nuts. Taste - more burnt praline. Palate - close to medium bodied with a creamy texture and a decent finish that is a mix of sweet and bitter. Overall - I’m less miserable about this than their other beers to be honest.
