10/10/2024. Cask at Nottingham Beer & Cider Festival 2024. Pours clear mahogany brown with a frothy off-white to beige head. Good pour. Aroma is toffee, biscuit, malty, toasted, prune, dried fruits, plastic. Moderate sweetness, medium bitterness and body. Smooth, with average to soft carbonation. Quite liked this.

Can, brewed/canned at RiverWalk, best before November 2024, drunk 9/8/24. Clear, dark maple-mahogany. Large, dark beige/light tan head shows good retention. Roasty, smokey, caramel-forward with excellent maltiness, clean and lightly fruity. Some mineral and toast lingering on the finish. Very roasty up front. Decidedly much more thin than expected based on the rich nose, unfortunately. No doubt a product of being brewed at RiverWalk, producer of shitty, poor quality beers. The flavors are great...brown sugar, maple, caramel, gentle roast and toast. But the body is just not even close to there for the size of the beer. It's clean, at least. Probably going to stop buying Amory's Tomb beers that are contract canned at RiverWalk. So, so, so much worse than the beer brewed at the actual brewery.

750mL bottled October 5, 2022, drunk 8/3/24. Gushing quickly leading to a honey-lemon-golden beer. Some haze. Moderate head, low retention. Chalky, rich, heavy mineral-forward Brett with pineapple notes and rustic grains. Don't get the sumac but I don't really know what sumac tastes like. Juicy, rich, malty, rustic with cranberry, gentle Brett, rich saison yeast and excellent malt depth. Soft, rich, juicy, malty, dry. Nothing unwanted in the yeast profile. Maybe a bit bitter, overly, lingering.

Thanks Clark, citrus, earthy, funk, yeast. Clean, taste follows aroma.

Brewery draught, 7/14/24. Chill hazed, bronze-maize. Medium-sized, white head, moderate retention. A bit hoppier than the base, bit more pitch and chalk. Kinda feels like this is a young Tree House can that would really come in to its own in a week or two. As is, still excellent, soft, dry, not over-hopped (not dominated by hop bitterness or flavor). Delicious yeast character, endless amounts of Dupont. A real shame the assassin missed Donald Trump.

Brewery draught, 7/14/24. Chill-hazed, lemony-golden. Small, white head quickly to spotty cover. Fruity lemon lime and mild tropical is front and center from the Motueka, but the mixed yeast culture is not overshadowed. Pepper, apple, plaster, must...really lovely, interesting blend of Blaugies and light Dupont notes. Biscuity, rustic grains balance gently. Wow! Soft, malty, rich and deep textures drying out nicely on the finish with excellent yeast and hop-derived acidity. The Motueka really complements the yeast lending even more fruitiness. Pepper, plaster, cellar must, very light Brett. Yeast is front and center here, as it should be, with comforting malt textures and a pleasing fruit and bitterness from the hop.

375mL bottle drunk 7/14/24. Hint of chill haze. Deep bronze-peach. Little/no head. As is usually the case with their beers, the adjuncts and barrel are both pronounced and yet moderately-well homogenized. Nothing aggressive or dominant here, with a lovely fruit character and subtle, peppery smoke. Red wine gently adds depth and strength in the background. Juicy peach and peppery-iodine-like smokiness, very dry and woody on the finish. Some tart Brett is well-received and a bit of malo-lactic character joins the finish. I like the smoke but it's rather heavy and the charred wood character is a bit at odds with the lighter fruit character of the other aspects of the beer. Does keep it very dry, though. There's excellent malt and wine/barrel tannin. With breathing and warming it does become more balanced. Very unique and creative beer.

Canned January 2024, drunk 6/2/24. Clear, bright auburn-amber. Large, moderately-well-retained, light beige head. Beautifully aromatic nose full of fruity yeast and light specialty malts. Gentle, but generous spiciness from the hops and light biscuit and cracker from the base malt. Very clean. In the mouth it's moderately malty, spicily-hopped and very fruity. Nicely to-style, with no real Americanization. The only thing missing here is just a touch more oomph from the base malt to give it a bit more depth and roundness.

Can, best before April 2025, drunk 5/29/24. Gushing can (lightly) produces a hazy copper-peach-brass beer with a massive, frothy, well-retained, off-white head. Lovely house blend of classic saison yeasts (dupont, blaugies...) showing tons of plaster, mild black pepper and mild stone fruit. Hops work really well with the classic saison phenols/esters, being supplementary to the stone fruit and showing rich mineral and spice themselves. Clean, very bright and aromatic. Hoppy, but not utterly dominated by the hop. Some earthiness with biscuity malts and a hint of honey-like richness. Great malt depth and attenuation. No crude esters/phenols. Just mild black pepper, plaster and stone fruit. Maybe a touch of strawberry and not too much bitterness from the hops. Wow, Wai-iti and Motueka are perfect here, showing tons of fruitiness with none of the sometimes stronger pine character of Nelson. Oats and wheat keep things soft and creamy without adding too much sweetness. Lingering apricot, lemon, strawberry, pepper and biscuity wheat and nutty oat. Sublime. Will be buying more of this.
