Otley Brewing Co.

Associated Venue: Bunch of Grapes (Otley)

Established in 2005

Closed in 2018

Description
An offshoot of the small local pub company of the same name. A small number of trial brews were done at Moor Brewery. The former 10BBL plant from Moor was acquired and full production started in August 2005.

The business was sold by founder Nick Otley in 2016, to a company called All Beer Co, although Companies House reveals no record of such a firm. Eventually brewing ceased in early 2018. Mr Otley retained the company’s pubs which continue to operate.

Cask at Southampton Arms. Dark brown almost black with no head at all. Very thick texture, oily. Aroma is roast malt, creamy, lots of alcohol. Touch of coffee too. Tastes quite like Baileys, with a lot of dark fruit and red wine. Little bit of vanilla in there somewhere and a touch of cherry, but lots of booze. Tastes much stronger than 7.4%. Little bit of spice too. Nice but maybe not very subtle. --- Beer merged from original tick of Odessa on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 8 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 7. On tap at the Southampton Arms. Looks very orange with a small head which lasts the whole way down. Feel like I could taste the alcohol. Taste is quite citrussy, particularly orange with a bit of sherbet in there too. Nice pint. --- Beer merged from original tick of mOtley Brew on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 8 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 8. Draught at the Rake. Dark brown with a tiny head. Aroma is a bit chocolate malt and slightly hoppy. Tastes like a stout rather than a black IPA, quite chocolatey and a bit smoky. No real bitterness in the taste. Palate is slightly oily with very little carbonation. Can't really find the IPA part of this. --- Beer merged from original tick of Oxymoron on 09 Sep 2019 at 16:06 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 7 | Flavor - 7 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 6.
