20 June 2025. “Iets voor den Erwin” @ Dracuna. Cheers to the whole GBV crew! Bottle from Hopduvel.
Hazy orange, small, frothy, off-white head. Grass, citrus zest, clove, bread crust, starch, yeast, white pepper, kiwi, unripe pear. Sweetish apple & pear, bitter clove & pepper, bready maltiness. Bitter grassy hops, clove, citrus pith. Medium body, moussy texture, average carbonation. Typical Belgian elements and recognisable De Ranke bitterness.

0.33 l bottle from 'SpeciaalBierPakket.nl', bottled in February 2025. Hazy, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, almost stable, beige head. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty and slightly fruity aroma of caramel, cocoa and dark fruits. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, slightly roasty and a little fruity taste of caramel, cocoa, toasted nuts, dark fruits, some clove and traces of coconut, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly yeasty-spicy finish. Medium to full body, smooth and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Pleasant and well-balanced beer, quite rich and saturating.

Towering greige head over brown-tinted, almost black beer. Very roasty, Maillard, roasted nuts, faint meatesters, burnt pistacchio, caramel, toffee. Dry roast, tobacco, ashes with a bitter hopflavour finish. There is a slight acidity, but more from the CO² than from real stoutacidity, I think. Cigar leaf, and more sweetness in the aftertaste, warming up. Medium bodied at best. Creamy texture, txs to the head, but the beer breathes a quite light impression. Well carbonated, all the same. I was expecting more fireworks, but somehow, it advertises authenticity on the porter front.

0,33l bottle at home. Bottled July 2024. BB 18.07.2026. black color, medium big tan head. smells spices, soapy, toffee, earthy, light caramel, ligh sweat. ok smell. full body soft carbonation. tastes earthy, herbal, spices, peppery, light smoke, grains, soapy, ashy. finishes dry and medium bitter with notes of ash, herbs and earthy notes. interesting one, rather dry, rather bitter, I would say rather old school, reminiscence of a black IPA. pretty good to drink, a tad on the soapy side. hints of some veggies. overall nice
