Bottle picked up at Dranken Geers, Oostakker, nr Gent, consumed at home Sunday 7th December 2014. Pours very dark brown with light beige creamy head. Really thrusty hoppy beer a little gritty burst of bitter cocoa punches through mmhh...lovely but with a smooth fruity hoppiness. Chocolate and light coffee linger on nose. Lovely beer. Bottle at Pigs Ear 2014. Hazy amber lasting thin white head. Sherbert hop aroma. Over carbonated. Some toffee sweetness. Aroma is good but not so keen on the body mouthfeel or malts. Some carbonic acidity on the finish. Aroma is hoppy and good the rest doesn’t deliver.

Bottle from CBB. This hoppy 6% belgian saison pours a lively light gold with a dense head of foam that had incredible staying power and left wonderfully delicate lacing behind. The nose is right of the bat striking you with a fruity hop punch before revealing the underlying more delicate funky saison character - really nice. Medium bodie, the taste has a delicate fruity hoppiness (lemon, passionfruit, mango) with a more assertive brett-like funky saison character and a crisp dry finish. The finish is a bit metallic in that funky brett way. All in all a beer made for hop and funk lovers but more suited to a warm summer day than a cold winter’s evening.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head and a bit of a muddied, ruby glow - nice. Aroma of alcohol, grain, malt, raisins, figs, pit fruits, a touch of bread & yeast and some subdued apples and fresh fruit. Medium-bodied; Assertive effervescence with a deep malt and toffee flavour at first showing some brandy and grape notes while showcasing the pit fruits and relative earthiness on the finish. Aftertaste has a nice profile with a light fruity and earthy note while the alcohol and dryness stays on the end and lingers elegantly. Overall, a nice beer to sample - perhaps not the best beer you’ll find in Bruxelles, but a good beer to sample - and I’d easily classify this as a Belgian Ale or a [albeit it light] Dubbel. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from Delices et Caprices in Bruxelles, Belgium on 19-August-2013 for €2,50 sampled at home in Washington to celebrate training for a marathon (tomorrow) on 28-November-2014.

Bottle of their hefeweizen picked up at CBB & served in a weizen glass. A fairly clear light gold with a thick fluffy eggshell white head. Quite an interesting nose definite belgian funk with cloves & banana. The carbonation is quite sharp while the mouthfeel is fairly smooth. The taste is wheat, banana, biscuit, mild cloves while the finish is tangy and a touch bitter/fruity hops. Not bad for a new brewery.
