Description
Grimm Artisanal Ales is a Brooklyn-based brewery founded in 2013 by Joe and Lauren Grimm after nearly a decade of tinkering with fermentation. Grimm specializes in concise, elegant ales epitomizing the creative, experimental spirit of the American artisanal beer revolution. With each limited edition release, we seek to push the boundaries of style and flavor in order to create beers with the utmost depth and complexity.
For five years, Grimm operated as a nomadic brewery. Joe and Lauren would develop each recipe in the kitchen of their Gowanus apartment and travel to existing breweries near and far to craft their commercial beers.

750mL bottle, pours a cloudy pale golden orange with a medium white head. Aroma brings out farmhouse notes, yeast, and dry floral notes. Flavour is earthy and yeasty, with farmhouse yeast, thick yeast soup and more yeast. Sounds bad as I describe it, but it's rather nice. Dry, earthy and yeasty finish. Nice stuff.

22oz bottle shared by bitbucket. Black body with tan head in a De Molen tuliped copita glass. Aroma: earth, ground, light cocoa, some sweet chocolate biscuit, low hop, black patent bitterness, tobacco, lots of different imperial stout aspects. Its not big, its no hoppy, and its not alcohol heavy. Flavor is similarly not sweet or heavy but full of a lot of dark malt flavors. Some plum, licorice, much less roast than in aroma. Much smother but still a lot of black malt. I like it but I would like a little less dark malt centric beer.

Gut. 11/12/12/12/9//12

Pour is a hazy blonde with a average white head. Aroma is citrus fruity and yeasty esters. Flavor is bitter oranges with more of the ester coming out. Finish is peppery and a little spicy. Very refreshing and citrus fruit laden saison. A perfect beer for outside day drinking with spring in the air.
