Bottle - Big dark roast, anise and sweetness. Deep jet black with a light brown head. Dark roast and chocolate with a nice bitterness. Well done.

Bottle shared at JoeT’s house during RBWG. Pours deep black-brown with a foamy tan head. The nose has some burnt malts, tar, cocoa, dried fruits. Light sweet flavor with hard ashy roast, toasted tobacco, scorched earth, baking cocoa. Full bodied with fine carbonation. Bitter charred wood on the finish, some baking cocoa. Not bad.

Bottle at JoeT’s cat cabana. Opaque black liquid with small to medium tan head. Aroma of coffee, licorice, chocolate, biscuit, raw sugar and bread. Taste is dry and light bitter with notes of grain, toast and ash. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Watery for the style. Weirdly grainy.

Bottle at Monday Club Erzbierschof. Worse nose, but muuuch better taste. Sweet and fruity stickyness, but oxidized and metallic.

Bottle at Monday Club Erzbierschof. Sweet and heavy, but dangerously quaffable. Short finish, unfortunately.

Tap at Erzbierschof Zurich. A light and simple but tasty PA. Sessionable but not watery, with good hops. Nice!

First rating, 11/23/2015. Hand pump at Erzbierschof Zurich. The first real ale where I really don’t mind the low carbonization. Still really full, some rye but not overwhelming, sweet and bitter. Yup, I like it. (6/4/7/3/15 = 3.5) Second rating, 12/30/2015. Bottle from Beers’n’more. Really soapy aroma, some citric aroma hops - A bit like your lemon-flavoured dishwashing detergent. Still not much rye, but better carbonization. Lots of it, actually. Very bitter. (5/4/7/4/12 = 3.2)

Bottle from Beers’n’more. Pleasant aroma of peach and apricot. Fine foam, but quite heavily carbonization. Mostly bitter and bubbles in the mouth, but there’s a fruity IPA hidden below it.

Dark brown color, almost black, and almost no head. Light roasted malt and dark bread aroma. Dry and light mouthfeel, roasted malt, some cacao.
Not a bad beer. Just too dry, roasty, and maybe a bit too ashy for me.
