Description
We started Braybrooke in 2017 with just one aim - to make really good lager. Beer doesn’t have to be complicated as long as it’s made in the right way with a commitment to quality. That’s exactly what we’re doing, brewing proper lager in the heart of the English countryside, near Market Harborough.

Bottle at BAP Soho. It pours clear orangey amber with a decent fluffy off-white head. The aroma is really reminiscent of oolong, black tea leaves, some mellow smoke, bitter - sweet, touch of toffee, malt loaf, brown bread and ryvita. The taste is initially dry, touch of tannin, earthy black tea, wood, muted smoke, brown bread, ryvita, toasty grains, bitter - sweet character with a touch of caramel to round things off. Average body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Well realised. Works well.

Keg draught at the Real Ale Classroom, Stoneygate. Mid- to dark gold and clear with a swirl of off-white head. Floral aroma, orange blossom, maybe a metallic hint. Lime maybe. Tastes sweet, crisp, more orange notes, light grainy character with a bitter finish. Kumquat in the aftertaste. A pretty classy lager.

Keg draught at the Two-Tailed Lion, Leicester. Mid-gold and mostly clear with a small white head. Floral aroma, sweet tropical fruits, light citrus. Tastes of orange, pineapple, lychee, with notes of white pepper. It's sweet but by no means unbearably so. Medium body with very heavy carbonation. My beer of the night.

Thursday 16th October 2025. Cobweb tasting session with four friends, almost every beer being very old or just 'out of date' (mostly very old). My place being the venue. Cheers Simon for the 330ml bottle of this, only 15 months out of date. Poured a slightly hazed golden colour, white crust. Light hop front with a little citrus leaning, still OK but 'on the turn'.
