Aromas are Coco dark malt licorice and black earth. When I got my schnoz right down into it I could smell the whiskey. Flavors are like nose with the long strong whiskey finish smooth body nice beer.

Sample from a shared 2013 bottle. Pours a light, hazy orange, with a small, off-white head. The nose is apple, mellow smoke, caramel, toffee, and toasted oak. Sweet and lightly peated. Medium body, with a silky, thin mouthfeel. This is a complex, yet easy drinking beer. Lovely scotch character, but not much of the base beer shines through.

Can - a fair IPA with decent hop character and non-abrasive bitterness - a bit on the sweet side, and the hop flavors have some garlicky quality to them, but there's also bright citrus and melon - decent.

Different label, different abv, 8.10, but those change all the time.
The look could pass for a hazy IPA. Decent head of foam but doesn't last long.
The smell is of coriander, light cloves, bit of pepper, rather sweet. Imperial...I get it.
The spices are nice, maybe some orange citrus there, a bit too much on the sweet side for a Saison that I favour.
Lower end of medium bodied with lightish carbonation.
Got this in a trade with Wasatch. Nice to be given the chance to try it but it ain't my cup of tea.

Bottle - surprisingly dry for the strength - strong cocoa, smoke, cherry skins - red wine, leather - alcohol is warming but otherwise well-masked - well-done.

8 ounce at the brewery - hazy good pour - smell is kind of like a mix of Chardonnay, a Manhattan cocktail, and dried herbs - the flavor is medium dry, herbal, with notes of toasted oak, coconut, peach, herbs - finish is a little peppery, with notes of vermouth rounding it out - interesting, if not exactly great.

Taster at the brewery - the chai spices in this add a peppery punch to the finish, and some dry cinnamon up the front end that works well with the smokiness of the base beer - finish of lingering chai spiciness and black pepper - enjoyable.
