4oz pour at the brewery an opaque black with some frothy, beige head. Nose has plenty of roasted malt, burnt toast, coffee beans, some dark chocolate, molasses, a little bit of raisin, a little bit of plum, some orange, some mild spice. Flavor has plenty of sticky malt, orange peel, a bit of black pepper, toasted bread, brown sugar, caramel, a bit of caramelized apple, some black currant too. Full bodied with just a hint of alcohol. Very nice beer.

4oz pour then a 32oz growler from the brewery. Pours a clear brown with some sudsy white head. Nose is an interesting mix, malt is the dominant force with some bread crust, a little cracker, some sweet oats, a hint of spice, some orange, a little fall fruit. Not too much juniper, but I’m not complaining. Flavor has some bread crust, a bit of brown sugar, a little earthy, some caramelized root veg, a bit of spice, the juniper comes through a bit more. Sticky finish.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours a clear orange with some very thin white head. Nose has a lot of orange peel, some mild key lime too, a hint of sweet malt. Flavor has a lot of orange soda without the carbonation, sweet, citrus, some tangerine too. Watery finish. A bit too sweet, could have used a little more bitterness to round it out.

4oz pour at the brewery. Pours a murky black with some sudsy brown head. Nose is pretty cool, dark chocolate, some currant, almost like toast with jam smeared over the top. Flavor follows suit, really interesting play between the toast dry malts and the berries, a little chocolate, a little molasses. Only mildly tart. Sweet finish.
